"The junior cricket of the BCCI has been revamped. From now on the groups would be under 16, 19 and 22 instead of the present under 15, 17, 19 and 22," said BCCI Chief Administrative Office Ratnakar Shetty. "The decision to revamp junior cricket was taken at the working committee meeting held in Chennai," Shetty added. The BCCI has, till the current season, conducted matches for under 15 (Polly Umrigar Trophy), under 17 (Vijay Merchant Trophy), under 19 (Cooch Behar Trophy) and under 22 (Col C K Nayudu Trophy).
