None of those crappy bowlers (bar Kapil Dev) are comparable to the current crop. ...as for parallels between '83 and '07 - i'd say the biggest difference is that the country actually expects the team to embark on a good run; and a semi-final place at the very least. In '83 this was never the case, as India were coming off two crappy world cup showings, were finding it difficult to adapt to the limited overs game - hence the odds were completely against them and they could have a good go at it knowing they had nothing to lose. The odds on them winning the final were like 50/1, i believe. Whereas if India make the final in '07, many will fancy a punt on them. The expectations are what create the pressure. Link to comment

Yeah but Sachin Rahul Sourav have played in numerous WC and they have always been in the loosing side, they diserve to win becuase of their effort over the decades. Link to comment
