Crock watch: A number of Indian players suffering from injury of late!

Recommended Posts

Our own Doc explained the the injury of Indian players as follows:

Ishant had a stress fracture in his big toe! No wonder it took the poor lad so long to recover! Tendulkar and Harbhajan had similar problem- infkammation of the area where the muscle tendon inserts into bone- in Sachin's case., it was on the inside of the thigh, a bit like what professional horse riders get. In Bhajji's case it was the back of the thigh. Both will be fine. Yuvraj's injury is most serious- a defect in the anterior cruciate ligament, and his knee has already been dislocated once. He'll need surgery sooner or later. Zaheer has a heel injury and should have recovered by now. No idea what Kumble's injury is. Sreesanth's shoulder seems to have healed surprisingly well on Ayurveda.
As for Kumble, he is suffering from groin strain kind of thing as this link shows: Kumble ruled out of IPL opening fixture Kumble, who missed the third Test against South Africa in Kanpur, is yet to recover from a groin injury. "He will miss the first game definitely but we'll see how it goes as we go along," Dravid said in Bangalore. "Anil is keen to play and we hope in about 4-5 days he should be able to play. The physio at the National Cricket Academy - Paul Close - and the franchise physio are both in discussion and we'll take a decision on that." Well, we don't know how much series is this injury but it is clear that non-stop cricket in last 11 months has taken its toll on the players and many are injured (burnt out). And finally we don't know what was the problem with RP Singh after he was declared fit and even participated in two Deodhar matches and did well there too. But in tests his intensity was nowhere near what it had been in last 11 months. Let us just hope thar RPS loss of form was just a minor thing and he will not join the long list of bowler who are brilliant in the first one or two years for India and then fade out!
