Afridi is a better spinner than Murali was your opinion, and Dhoni cannot play spin too is your opinion..... where were you when Dhoni smashed Afridi and all other pakistan spinners for 148 in an ODI ??? where were you when Dhoni blasted 183 , chasing 300 to win against the SL spin attack ?? ( in that carnage Murali went for 40 odd in 10 overs) yet to buy a tv ? Please come to Chennai where they give free tv sets, I shall give you that dvd, sit and watch all day before telling me stuff....dumbass...learn facts, learn to count, learn to see and understand cricket. facking moron
Umm now I said T20 a million times...Afridis bowling suits for T20!! how can I get that into your tiny head! Why do you keep bringing ODIs up... "On a pitch lacking in pace and bounce, Dhoni's strategy was simple: hit on the up, through the line of the ball, and use the feet to advance down the pitch when it isn't pitched up" Ok very good - flat track shabash - give the bowler a chance and see the result...golden duck against Murali's doosra in WC 2007 Facking dodobrain

No...you are lying....I had of course analysed Dhoni's captaincy in great detail in that thread, and said he was the best in India and possibly the world...when you butted in with "Warne is better"...check your own posts now. And now that I have cornered you on your own inconsistencies which leads me to question your judgment in team picking, answer yet again whether or not you accept Dhoni is a better captain than Warne. And if so take back your stastement that Warne is far better( in that thread)...you did not say "just as good"..you said better than Dhoni...want me to show you the actual post ?

a batter who can smash 150, 180 against spin attacks in a ODI can also do better in T20 where spinners have even lesser chance. T20s have as flat or flatter tracks than ODIs. And Dhoni smashed Afridi for 89 runs in 9 overs....and Mural went for 46 off 10 against Dhoni. Finally batting brilliantly in odi is equivalent to doing the same in t20,...and all u have to show for it is Dhoni's duck against Murali ( LOL that proves my point yet again....has Afridi ever got Dhoni for a duck ? even you seem to pick only Murali to prove a so called point against Dhoni)..How many instances of Dhoni failing against spin in t 20 do you have, going by your own logic ?? You are now cornered from 4 angles, all by your own statements...dumbass :finger:

Yeah I did say better than Dhoni and I will take that statement back if it makes you happy dude. But just FYI, I meant Warne deserves greater recognition because of the team he was given. And when I pick a team, I don't see if theyre from Pakistan or something, or note how many are from a particular country - I pick from consistent performances (which is why I picked Gambhir over Sehwag)...

Eh?? dumbass - did I say Afridi was better than Murali in ODIs? why the fack do you warp what I say...I said that Afridi is just as good in bowling as Murali in T20 format - plus he bats and fields better - so I'd rather have him....repeat that to yourself so that you dont get twisted over what I say and think that you "cornered" me :finger: I acknowledge that Murali is a better spinner than Afridi in ODIs and Tests...but Afridi is doing just as well in T20s And yes Dhoni sucks against spin (and you countered by giving only two examples) . But why argue...lets see how he fares against Afridi - I think DC plays CSK soon. Again, repeat this to yourself...I'd be HAPPY TO BE PROVED WRONG for Team India's sake

arre swamiji, Its not a question of making ME happy....in fact if you read the other threads on RR and Warne, I had been right upfront in praising Warne's captaincy...but when YOU claimed he was better than Dhoni, I had to disagree on cricketing grounds. Dhoni is by far the most successful international captain since he took over Team India ( actually there are several who think he can be given even the test captaincy on a regular basis now). He won the T20 wc, he won against Pak ODI at home, he won the CB series in Aus and now he is leading the superkings superbly to put them on top. It was when I was discussing this point, you objected by saying Dhoni was not as a good a captain as warne, whose captaincy I greatly admire no doubt, but I doubt he is as good as Dhoni has proved himself on an international level so far. And I was again debating your choices of your team and also captain on cricketing grounds alone, when you chose to classify my choice of Murali as "Tamil affinity"...this is no insult to me or Tamilians, but an insult to one of the greatest spin bowlers of ALL TIME in all formats of the game. If at all you can pick one cricket player for his particular trade and have almost universal acceptance, it is Muthiah Muralitharan...I am prepared to argue for Murali's place in ANY all time great 11 , tests, ODIs, T20s...anyday, anytime...I mean purely as a specialist spin bowler who can change the course of a cricket match in 15 min of magical spin bowling on any track against any quality opposition. And as t20 games are easily turned upside down even within 2 overs, I have more reason for picking Murali. You classified Dhoni as a batter who cannot play spin in response to my statement that Indians are very good players of spin, a fact that is accepted widely in cricket circles. I pointed out that the superkings team has 4 in form batsmen, indians, and so the threat of Warne would be much less for us compared to other teams. Any fault in this ?? Especially as he would bowl just 4 overs ( even in the game against Kings 11 he went for 47 off 4 and Yuvi got 57 ). Your evidence for Dhoni being poor against spin was one golden duck in the wc2007, but when I gave you two great knocks by Dhoni against Pak spinners and SL spinners including Murali, you say "just 2 examples"...and also that these were in odi s and not T20...errr...even your example of that duck was in odis. So, lets bring this topic up when the RR and DC sides clash ( with CSK ) , and we will continue the argument of Dhoni, warne and Murali. cheers :two_thumbs_up:

@swami...in fact there are two other points you havent explained. You claim Afridi is a better fielder than Murali. I disagree..Murali is a brilliant fielder , even on the boundary , while bowling, catching etc. You claimed Warne against CSK will give the RR team an edge. I asked you if warne against an Indian batters studded CSK is an advantage, what about Murali against an RR batters on same track. Players like watson, Smith et al are quite inferior to Indian batters like Raina, Dhoni and Badri when it comes to playing spin. Moreover, if at all a t20 comes down to a tie and a bowlout.....Afridi is the last person on earth I would have in my side LOL

Well Afridi is a terrific fielder in covers. I've seen clips of him catching some stunning catches and hitting the stumps (I saw the Pak-Aus match in T20 WC where he ran Clarke out) Well IMO Smith is a genuinely good batsman - he atleast handled Bajji and Kumble well in Kanpur (scored 69 and 35 which is terrific for that pitch), so I think he's better than Raina, Badri and Dhoni atleast - don't know about Watson, but if he opens then he'll face more pace-bowling than spin (unlike Badri, Dhoni who may come in the middle overs) The thing I hate about Afridi is his showmanship (and I think that affects his batting)

What about McCullum? With so many players and so little data on each, it is a difficult task. But, McCullum's knock stands out in my mind as the highlight of the IPL thus far. Based on that alone, I'd try to place him somewhere - just don't ask me where :-)!!

But Murali has a far better record than Afridi in all formats as a spinner, even in T20, and Murali is certainly a better fielder than Afridi, this is something one cannot prove by stats, but Murali's ground fielding on the boundary ( for even a 36 year old) is magnificent and he takes miraculous catches, and has a great throwin arm that saves a run each time ball goes to the boundary line

Unfortunately McCullum is an opener and although he is terrific, he cant be fit in due to his position and I am not too sure whether he can play the same way at 6 or 7

Pathan is much better bowler than Watson. Pathan took crucial wickets in T20 WC and after. Here's international IPL team 1. Hayden/Gilly 2. Sehwag/Gambhir 3. Symonds 4. Dhoni 5. Hussey/Misbah 6. Yuvraj 7. Afridi/Oram 8. Pathan/Ishant 9. Lee/Asif 10. Mcgrath 11. Murali/Warne

Adam Gilchrist Virender Sehwag Gautam Ghambir Suresh Raina Micheal Hussey Yuvraj singh MS Dhoni Irfan Pathan Zaheer Khan Shane Warne Glen McGrath. I think that's a VERY strong side. Considering how every single oversea player in the team is Australian in my team shows how awesome the players of their era were.
