Yes I am not soeaking about americans they have their own priorities and good luck to them.. I believe that America and India should stand shoulder to shoulder as this momentous process unfolds. That is one reason why I supported the historic civil nuclear deal. I supported it unequivocally, unlike my opponent in this election, who sought to attach “killer amendments†that would have scuttled the accord and greatly set back our partnership. India has been a responsible, law-abiding power, and it should be further integrated into the global effort to control proliferation of dangerous technologies, not marooned in some permanent “half-way†status. India should be able to take maximum advantage of new technologies that can provide energy without depending ruinously on imported, greenhouse gas-emitting fossil fuels. I am pleased that the American Congress prevented killer amendments from sinking this pact before it had a chance to move forward. Now that it is progressing, it should be a major step — but only one among many — in a robust program of strategic partnership between our nations. Farm Subsidy: The setback in the Doha round negotiations was unfortunate. I oppose wasteful, market-distorting farm subsidies to large agribusinesses, a policy that imposes costs on the American taxpayers and further burdens the world’s poor. India also worries about the effect of global competition on its small farmers. That’s an obstacle we can work together to overcome. The United States and India should address these issues as partners, whether it is through cooperation at the WTO or through a bilateral investment treaty. By preserving open economies at home and working to break down barriers globally, we can expand the benefits of international commerce to the entire world. Obama remains stoicly mum on famr subsidy issue.. I am sure if someone reminds this guy might jump the bandwagon but fact is these issues doesn't concern him and tells all I need to know about him from India's perspective.

No, that might actually be a disaster for India. India is a fast-rising nation in every aspect and if luck holds up, we are going to be one of the super-powers. As such, India needs to be cautious about its geo-political alliances. She has her work cut out for her- atleast she knows her long-term enemies : Pakistan, China and their side-products: Islamism and Maoism. But India should be careful about choosing her buddies. As the world stands today, US is the unquestionable super-power with China fast becoming the unquestionable #2. In conventional military terms, it has almost closed the gap with Russia (take a look at Russian Air Force for eg: their modern stuff is actually not that many and vast numbers are cold war junk material). The BRIC nations, along with US-Ru and EU are closely watching as well. Any one of these nations going 'shoulder to shoulder' with America means an alliance forming that'd make others very nervous. India cannot risk completely alienating Russia. For the red terror would be 10 times worse if the Panda didn't have to keep an eye on the Bear. IMO, India's current doctrine is pretty solid : varied 'mall-shopping' style weapons and R&D acquisition and promoting trade ties with all, particularly the EU-US and its buddies.
