Guest dada_rocks Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 http://www.indianexpress.com/story/348223.html “I don’t mince words. I have a bad reputation of telling truth, and I told the Indians that you should be ashamed of yourself,†said Paul. “Even Pakistan told me, ‘Lord Swraj Paul, we are supporting you, but you worry about the Indians’,†he said. The Kuala Lumpur meet, according to him, saw a split in the Indian camp. Of the total 35 Indian votes, Paul claimed that 10 belonging to the BJP went in his favour. Referring to his experience in the 1980s when he was willing to invest in India, Paul said: “I learnt one thing at that time — never trust what they (Indians) say. That is what, unfortunately, got repeated last week (at Kuala Lumpur).â€
Lurker Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Yes and I am supposed to feel sympathy for the gentleman who left his home for better pastures and then has the gall to claim - “I learnt one thing at that time — never trust what they (Indians) say. He can go eff himself as far as I am concerned.
Guest dada_rocks Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 You are trying to hijack the debate.. that's separate debate what is right thing to stay and remain a non-contributing lurker or go abroad and contribute soemthign.> i am sure he contributes to india many times then 99.999% of resident indians.. Point here is why this forked tongue behavious.. if indian govt didn;t want to give his support they should have said so.> Why say one thing and do another......Doesn't paint a reliable pictuire.. He is not asking Indiand must support me all he is asking why renege on promise on which basis he filed his nomination..
Lurker Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 ^^ Again, when a man specifically says, and I quote - I learnt one thing at that time — never trust what they (Indians) say, why should I give him any sympathy? And no I am not hijacking the issue in the first place. I am willing to look past his history if he had not made such a stupid comment.
Guest dada_rocks Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Me thinks the reasn behind is the fact that Swaraj paul failed to toe the line of Modi bashing which non-BJP outfit expected from him. Whatever the reason they should have told him point blank well buddy we can;t support you due to our own political compulsions..
Guest dada_rocks Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 ^^ Again' date=' when a man specifically says, and I quote - I learnt one thing at that time — [i']never trust what they (Indians) say, why should I give him any sympathy? And no I am not hijacking the issue in the first place. I am willing to look past his history if he had not made such a stupid comment. Well our behaviour has been exactly what he is saying in this case ... and my question is why this, why can't we be upfront.. Heck his whole complaint is about the forked-tongue behaviour and you are asking why he is calling us so.. if he had not called us so then we might have symathised but then symathiserr over what.. If you take out his grievance of forked-tongue behavious then there is no issue here wonderon what issue you have been sympathising with him......

Whatever the reason they should have told him point blank well buddy we can;t support you due to our own political compulsions.. I will admit I am completely clueless about this whole thing. I mean do we really care about Commonwealth still? Much less the Chairmanship of some stupid board inside it? Almost sounds like a huge Colonial hangover and in my opinion this post would be of interest only if you reside in London. I seriously doubt anyone in Patna, or Poona, will give a damn about this. And you may completely be right in your assertion about political compulsions here but what personally peeved me was that response. That too coming from a pretty famous guy of Indian origin.
Guest dada_rocks Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Well as much as we like to belive Common wealth is irrelevant it's not.. Anyway point is nto the relevance point is leaving someone high and dry after promising support.. If he is pi$$ed over this behavious he has every right to do so and I know those words sound .. I see your point he is taking it too far calling whole India unreliable but our representatives do behave like that and since they are democratically elected we can;t wash our hands off .. Well BJP's support he got and he accepts that so his outburst notwithstanding he certainly doesn't consider whole india unreliable.. Give the poor guy some benfit of doubt he is pi$$ed and said those words as an outburst. What intrigued me is the comment: pakistan saying you have my vote worry about indians and vote does reinforce the senitment expressed in these word. Doesn't it say sthg about our representative's behaviour

Doesn't it say sthg about our representative's behaviour I am intrigued by the fact that Pakistan was kicked out of Commonwealth after Musharraf seized power. When were they let in again? Maybe now they are in they want to keep India in its good books?? Afterall I am guessing India, along with England and Australia, would probably be the big powers of Commonwealth.
