Guest dada_rocks Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20080063628 "I respectfully disagree with Hillary Clinton. I am not able to support him. I would like to but I can't. Despite her getting the popular vote and more than 18 million votes, she is not the nominee. I can't," said Michael Borio, Chair, Astoria, Hillary Group. I have been thinking about this since sometime finally thought will post it. oke so my question is till today one after another clowns will keep berating the theory that actually Algore won election because he got more popular vote. Exactly same scenario is here Hilary gets more popular vote but Obama wins the nomination.. But I am yet to see chest-beating abotu murder of democracy in this case. As far as I am concerned Bush was the legitimate winner and so is Obama.. You do not change the rules of election just because sometimes result are not the logical one.. democray has seen many face change since its inception.. In early days what passed as democracy in greece today is known as communist oligarchy. Yes the earliest democracy provided selected few powers to vote so does communist regime where top-brass of polit bureau member decide who gets to govern.. On another end there is state of switzerland where any importatnt decions takes the referndum route. American democracy is somewhere in between so is indian.. Anyway my point is the same people who won't stop berating Bush even afetr eight years why are they silent over Obama's nomination ahead of Hillary..
novpj Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 The reason people dont make a big deal of it is because some states use caucus for the primaries - these were typically the states that Obama won. However, unlike elections turnout in cacuses is low because you have to show up at a certain time in the evening (cant randomly vote any time during the day). Thus, its difficult to get to a fair popular vote count. Hillary won in most non caucus states and hence her popular vote count seems high but it simpy cant be compared to Obama's.
THX_1138 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 hillary did not win the popular vote mate... she had prior to the election agreed upon not counting the votes of florida and michigan since they had failed to adhere to the laws that governed the democratic primary... but the moment the tables turned on her, she has backtracked. lets face it, hillary lost, but she is a very very worthy candidate. she not only has her maverick husband by her side, but she has been a sincere politician. however, obama's message rung stronger with the masses, so here he is. the percentage of hillary supporters who are bitter about obama is so remote that they are a statistical anomaly.
sandtest Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Bill Clinton was a total "sweet talking" politician who backstabbed India as much as he can. The moron prevented ABV to cross LOC and punish Paki piglets when they balatantly crossed and occupied Kargil heights. No to mention democrats known softness towards Chincommie aggression. More reasons for India to watch cloesly and remain careful with democrats sweet talk.
sandtest Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Btw..where is Canada Sikh thread gone?? :giggle: Lurker saab's pak like spinning which he casted over simple post of mine which merely reflected history of Guru Gobind and Guru Teg Bahadur saving many Indian Brahmins from Islamic slaughter. Surely we Indians under leftist charm can't be that thankless to forget Sikh Gurus while selectively highlighting a few morons in army who marched against Indian army. Even that was due to sheer reaction to Operation Bluestar -- a moronic knee jerk reaction of Indira Gandhi which was totally unnecessary, and many leftist/congressi leaning intellectuals rarely highlight this.

Those three statements sums you up, both as a person, as well as your knowledge of US politics. Statement 1: Your first in the paragraph and you have ALREADY made up your mind. :haha: Statement 2: Your mind already made you now start adding to your knowledge, or lack there of, by comparing the two situations. Statement 3: Last of the whole lot and now you ask your question(or point as you say) :hysterical::hysterical: Like most right wing clowns your knowledge of alphabets runs from Z to A :hysterical::hysterical: so please feel free to correct it first, ask the question then make up your mind.

Translation: Lurker is a psec idiot and whenevr anyone shows him mirror best thing si to throw some ad hominem.. This is same idiot who would start preaching you that since there is no direct election like switzerland in primaroes so this is as good as india's congres party's family nomination tradition:-) leave logical thign for those who can think man ....... Anyway for those who have have tried to explain it away by saying Hilary had already agreeed not to count this or that vote.. agreed but exactly same thing was in place for presidential election of 2000...... rules were in place before hand that over all popular vote won't matter popular votes in each state individually will matter and Bush won according to the rule in place before hand .. so question remains why cry in one case and hail the result in another....

No, translation is that you know/understand ****-all about US politics, or Indo-US relations angle and yet you keep peddling your own boolsheet with extreme vigour...sad that such an educated person has so little intellectual honesty.

Lurker is a boanfide leftist moron when it comes to defending islamist.. In past he has defended name of a place called bakhtiyaarpur in bihar .. heck that name commemorates that mofo bakhtiyar khilji who destroyed nalanda university.. These suckers could not find any betetr name heck make it akbarppur Dara-pur but Bakhtiyarpur for fcccuk's sake ....
CC1981 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 This is same idiot who would start preaching you that since there is no direct election like switzerland in primaroes so this is as good as india's congres party's family nomination tradition:-) Those who think that this shows US political process to be more transparent have very little clue about politics and the dynamics of a bi-partisan NATION.I will give you an example your mind will understand: the difference between US and India is like the difference between going to a strip mall dominated by Zellers and Walmarts versus going to a bazaar. The strip mall has elements of 'democracy and electability' in its beurocracy while the bazaars are all mostly family-run pvt. business. But you tell me where you will find more competetive prices : bazaars or in the strip mall. but exactly same thing was in place for presidential election of 2000..... Err no...Florida's votes were disputed because of the whole hanging-chad fiasco and number of people barred from voting but at no point did any of the contestants declare NOT to count florida votes and neither was that a mutual agreement between Dems and Reps. As i said, you know very little but holler a lot on US-related issues.
CC1981 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 heck that name commemorates that mofo bakhtiyar khilji who destroyed nalanda university.. These suckers could not find any betetr name heck make it akbarppur Dara-pur but Bakhtiyarpur for fcccuk's sake .... Only morons of the highest order will think less of Bakhtiyaar-pur baashindaas just because of the name of the city. But at the same time, the name keeps the name of Bakhtiyaar Khilji alive...someone we should NEVER make the mistake of forgetting.
