Sharad Pawar, the BCCI president who is also a union minister, said he had taken up the matter with Manmohan Singh, the Indian prime minister. "This was discussed at length during the last working committee meeting," Pawar told the Hindu. "I have taken up the matter at the highest level." Pawar said he had been advised to form a committee comprising himself, another representative from the BCCI and the revenue secretary in the Finance Ministry to draft a proposal before the government. It is reported that the board earned over Rs 500 crore from its various broadcasting rights and the IPL, which would be distributed to its 27 affiliated units. The state associations which hosted international matches in the 2007-08 season are likely to receive a greater share. The money will not be disbursed to units such as Services, Railways, All India Universities, Cricket Club of India and National Cricket Club (Kolkata).
