though being part timers, micheal clarke and andrew symmonds have always delivered with the ball pup, usually does very well with the ball against india there is certainly a question over symmonds' selection, but clarke is good enough to make uo for him
we shall see him after one inning of sehwag, sachin and dhoni, he wont ever take the field again cuz he spot spanked non stop :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

Australia do really lack quality spinners in the side.Prime example being the fact that 36 year old McGain is in with a good chance to get selected..also the fact that except Hyden and Clark other OZ top order won't have much clue if our spinners operate well...It'll be fun watching Punter struggling against Bhajji :D so dust bowls should await the Aussies!

as long as there is some purchase for our bowlers then any pitch shd be fine..coz v now have a pace attack that is capable of getting wickets on sporting tracks..so i hope there are no flat dead as a dodo pitches because that kills our bowlers.. our batting will regroup v need not worry abt that..it shd be a great series with India as the marginal favorites

Hari Sampath predicted that Sach..will score atleast two centuries in the series! If Hari's predictions turns in to reality(as is the case most of the times),then we might see Australians getting murdered in India.

I am quite sure that Sachin will deliver against Aussies as usual. Once Tony Greg had said that if you whisper Australia in the ears of Laxman while he is sleeping, he will drive you for a four. His last tour to Australia was not that impressive though. I am sure that batting wont be a concern. The only worry is Dravid who is completely out of form. Hope this small break will help him get out of that. BHajji will take care of punter and a few others. Kumble was brilliant against Australia last time. I think we should have a third spinner and give them some square turning pitch.

Only by his incredibly high standards. He still made a century and 2 fifties. Id say the innings in Perth will go down as one of his great knocks.

:hysterical: I think Kumble is past his date, and shouldnt be playing this series. I hope to be proved wrong.
No way ... He did well in Australia last time (he took crucial wickets). The Aussies still struggle against him, and especially in home conditions he will be effective. It would be the dumbest move in the history of Indian cricket to drop Kumble (who has taken 600+ wickets), especially when there isnt a standout replacement.

The original schedule allowed for only one tour match before the first Test in Bangalore, which starts on October 9. However, the postponement of the Champions Trophy in Pakistan left Australia with no cricket arranged in the immediate lead-up to the India series. The team was keen to reach India earlier than first planned in an effort to acclimatise to the subcontinent conditions. Cricket Australia has now confirmed that there will be two warm-up games. The newly organised fixture will be against the Rajasthan Cricket Association's Centre of Excellence, although the dates have not been finalised. The second practice match will take place from October 2 to 5. Australia will be attempting to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after they beat India 2-1 in a controversial series at home last season. There are already question marks over their squad for the rematch with Andrew Symonds' involvement uncertain due to his team-mates' decision to send him home from the ongoing one-day series against Bangladesh. The squad is likely to be announced next week, after the selectors have had a chance to see the Australia A group perform in two three-day games in India. The players will set off for India on September 21, giving them more than a fortnight in the country before the first Test.

B-G Trophy 2008 : McGain stakes claim for tour spot LEG-spinner Bryce McGain took the early lead in the battle to earn selection as Australia's specialist spinner on the tour of India with three wickets in a warm-up game. More... McGain stakes claim for tour spot September 03, 2008 LEG-spinner Bryce McGain took the early lead in the battle to earn selection as Australia's specialist spinner on the tour of India with three wickets in a warm-up game. McGain claimed impressive figures of 3-13 in his first six overs for Australia A on day one of the three-day match against India A at Bangalore's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the venue for next month's first Test. McGain, left-arm wrist spinner Beau Casson and off-spinner Jason Krejza are all vying to impress on this tour, to give themselves a chance at winning a spot in Australia's team for the four-Test series, which starts October 9. McGain took 2-6 from his first four overs, including a scalp in his opening over, and then returned in a second spell to claim a third wicket, bowling India A skipper Subramaniam Badrinath. India A reached 4-94 after 30 overs after winning the toss and batting first. NSW paceman Doug Bollinger (1-33) took the first wicket of the day. Casson (0-7) bowled one over, while Krejza was left out of the side but could play in the second three-day game, in Hyderabad next week. The performances of the three spinners will go a long way to determine who is included in Australia's squad, which will be announced next week. Australia are banking on one of the spinners doing well in India following the retirements of Brad Hogg and Stuart MacGill this year, after Shane Warne's departure last year

Lee to rejoin Aussie team after marriage break-up BRETT Lee will reunite with his Australia cricket teammates on Thursday for the first time since the break-up of his marriage. More... Lee to rejoin Aussie team September 03, 2008 BRETT Lee will reunite with his Australia cricket teammates on Thursday for the first time since the break-up of his marriage. Lee is scheduled to spend several hours in Darwin with his teammates, who on Wednesday wrapped up a one-day series win over Bangladesh with an eight-wicket victory in game two at TIO Stadium. The fast bowler was granted permission to sit out this series for personal reasons following his split with his wife of two years, Liz Kemp, last month. Cricket Australia confirmed Lee, 31, would not play in Saturday's third and final one-dayer, as he was flying into Darwin on Thursday morning and would only spend a few hours in the city before returning to Sydney. Lee is understood to be keen to renew contact with his teammates following the breakdown of his marriage. Lee will speak to the media on Thursday morning. He will outline how long he will be away from the Australia side and whether he will fulfil his long-held ambition of playing a Test series in India, where the world champions will play four Tests from next month. The Australia team will depart for India on September 21. However, media will be asked not to ask questions about Lee's marriage break-up, as the short press conference will be limited to cricket questions only. Lee has a contract with the Seven Network, where he is expected to discuss his split. Lee and Kemp, a podiatrist, were married near Bowral, NSW, in 2006 and have a son, Preston, who is 18 months old. Lee was reportedly shocked and shattered by the break-up, which cast doubt over his immediate cricketing future. The couple's relationship reportedly blossomed during the 2005 Ashes tour and he later attributed his great performances over the past two years to his happy home life.
