Well we all know what happened during 84 riots, Sadly in a country like ours... supressing evidence which benifits the bloody politicians is absolutely no surprise....and who does the riots anyways? anti-social elements, poverty stricken ppl who never lead a normal life and just go on a bloody rampage. also have to admit that many normal & decent Hindus saved Sikhs from rioters as well by giving them refuge in their houses when the city Delhi was burning with Sikhs being targeted for 3 days. but their motive of completely wiping out Sikhs from the captail & Kanpur did not happen. Even today, Sikhs are very prosperous.... both in India & abroad as well.

yes it was shameful and absolute disgrace. I remember a sikh shop owner near our house had recently reopened his shop after spending all his saving on renovation. 2 days after the opening a mob came and destroyed his shop.:pray:

I'm 17 years old. I came to Canada when I was 14. One day [in Canada] my uncle started talking about 1984....and I was like WHATTT???!!! As a sikh, I didn't know about what happened in 1984 [My parents never told me about it intentionally]. I came to know a lot about it in 1984 here in Canada. I was surprised that no one in India ever talked to me about it. As the lady in the videos says that people don't know about it and it is very right. People do watch the movie.

I remember reading somewhere that he said something like “When a big tree falls, the earth below trembles.” This was his justification ... :((:((:((

Its too late for me now but I will make a longer post about the specifics of 1984 riots later bottomline is that while we all hear about the cliche on an eye for an eye, all these instances are never really an eye for an eye but rather instances of taking anger out on the weakest targets. Sikh bodyguards armed with guns and terrorists made stronger by stupid Congress partisan policies kill the PM leads to a bunch of harmless unarmed innocent Sikhs slaughtered because of the access granted by the moronic Congress to the murderous mob (numbers would have been bigger if a number of Hindus had not saved their Sikh neighbours) to seek revenge. Islamic terrorists funded by the hardcore religious extremist countries and spared by the minority vote ass-licking politicians in India bomb thousands of harmless innocent citizens in the name of jihad, In response some coward, sissy politicians who will piss in their pants if they ever faced a real criminal organize mass riots against slum dwelling Muslims with no means to defend themdselves to seek revenge. In response again the slimy "Muslim" protectors set another series of bombs killing everyone except those who really incited and organized the riots. And so the tale of meaningless revenge goes on and on- and on & the only ones getting harmed are the ones who did nothing to create these situations. The only ones who get worshipped as heroes by the blind followers like D_Rs, the stupid segment of some Muslims and the idiotic Sikhs are the actual instigators of the bombings, the riots and the inflammatory media statements. The circle will go on and on till we actually solve this with proper law and order rather than these back and forth "vigilante" responses sponsored by the state such as the 84 sponsorship by Rajiv Gandhi and coterie.

Most important Reasons: Jackasses like you who will raise crocodile tears and use this for political mileage. It does not take a rocket scientist to see why 1984 riots have faded away from Indian mindset. Quite simply 84 is too far removed from 2000. The world was different, there was little media coverage of the time. In India there was 1 channel, even in USA/England there were 3-4 channels at the time. What this meant was information was not free flowing. Case in point Kapil Dev's 175* in 1983 WC, there is no video copy of that. Can you imagine something like that happening today? Right. On the other hand Gujrat riots were widely covered by media everywhere and there is open footage, right from people admitting on tape(Tehelka) to statements, bhasans by people on all sides that is part of media archive. Lastly of course there is the whole timing issue. Forget 1984 riots even the 1993 Bombay riots have started to fade from people's memory. I mean whatever happened to the pepetrators?? How many Indians sit up and read about 1993 riots judicial process?? This of course should not be read in anyway as me supporting 84 Sikh riots, which I am sure the loony like you will do, but to understand that why 84 riots has not received as much coverage as Gujrat pogrom. Now go back to shedding some more Crocodile tears. xxx

Blind followers are the root cause of problems in Indian politics anyway. Here is the key difference between 84 Sikh riot and Gujrat. I am yet to meet a person who justified 84 Sikh riots. But I meet everyday people who shamelessly will support Gujrat. I am yet to meet a person who shall tell me it was okay to kill Sikhs in Delhi since Indira Gandhi was murdered by "them", but I shall meet morons everyday(including 3 aces right here on this MB) who justify Gujrat pogrom with a Godhra angle. I am pretty darn sure that a Sikh who feels anguished due to Sikh riots will also have sympathy for Muslims slaughtered in free India, be it in Gujrat, Mumbai or Bhagalpur. On the other hand the crocodile tear brigade that sheds tears for Sikhs have little tears for Muslims killed in Gujrat. That my friend is the key difference. And yes right wing loonies will never understand it. xxx

You obviously don't have much idea about what you are talking about!!! There were lots of newspapers back then, weren't there? The video is saying that people DON'T even know about the Sikh riots. Its not that people are forgetting it. Its that people don't even know about it. My parents lived in that era in Punjab and they know what happened. People were suppressed. You were NOT ALLOWED to talk about the riots or the people involved in it. There was a complete ban on that.

Do you have any idea how few people (as a percentage of the population) can READ in India today, let alone in the early 80s (which will give you figures HALF of todays i garantee you) ???

You mentioned some place that you are 18 so I am not going to be too harsh on you, but I would suggest you start reading my posts to understand if I have ideas or not. In all honesty I may have more ideas on the subject that many posters inside this thread, put together. There are 2 fall-outs of 84 Sikh riots that I seem to be the ONLY poster here at ICF seem to be aware of. In the very least I seem to be the only one who raises it. a) Immediately after 1984 Sikh riots, a rebellion happened by Sikh regiment. This is the first, and ONLY, time in Indian Armed Force history. b) Right after Indira Gandhi assasination Sikhs have been tacidly kept away from some of the top Defense Groups, including NSG(National Security Guards, also known as Black Cats). You will not find them on any video, or movie or media. Also I am quite surprised to see you think people DONT know? Who doesnt know about Sikh riots in Delhi?? Unless you are talking of people your age, or NRIs, I fail to see how you are correct. I mean right here at ICF we have discussed 1984 Sikh riots has been discussed atleast a couple of dozen times. xxx

Sure, there may have been less media. From what I gather, it is worth noting that the entire Punjab region was blackened out and all media were basically cut prior to Operation BlueStar and hundreds of temples were raided across the state.
