Brainfade Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 From Obama's healthcare plan: 1) GUARANTEED ELIGIBILITY. Obama and Biden will require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions so all Americans, regardless of their health status or history, can get comprehensive benefits at fair and stable premiums. How are we going to "require" them to cover irresponsible folks who choose not to have coverage, go to the urgent-care doctor complaining of chest pains, are diagnosed with heart problems and now want to force an insurance company to cover the costs at a fair and stable premium? Good intent. No plan to execute.
CC1981 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Easiest way would be to nationalize the healthcare industry ala Canada, Scandinavia, UK, etc. IMO, i don't have a problem with a two-tiered healthcare system, where private clinics and public hospitals co-exist, so long as there is adequate control over both sectors from the government, to ensure a balance of quality and timing ( IMO, private clinics should exist solely IF you want to expedite your operation/procedures at exorbitant prices or in cases of emergencies).
