Lurker Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Very sad news indeed. The disgruntled Islamic militants have now started to join hands with local militants, in this case ULFA. This is troubling news. We need to address this, and not only by hot words but some prudent actions to ensure we nip this in the bud.

Afterall they are given rationcards and voter's id cards during election times, and is considered as serious votebank!

In delhi most people now openly talk about how much they hate muslims , how the Christians deserved the beating that they got , how Assamese are coming to delhi . Believe me there is lot more hatred in India today .. people are not as tolerant as they were few years ago. This false pride of India shining has made an average indian more aggressive , intolerant and more angry. On top of this , the poor rich divide in today's India is unbelievable. In most middle-class families are making Rs 80-100k per month and the maids/drivers/gardeners still make 3k.

People have become highly divided along one line or the other and now ashamedly talk about their hateful agenda which atleast embarassed them earlier. You are also right on about the gulf between rich and poor. And this gap is not only on man to man level, it has now grown into state to state, region to region and religion to religion level. What makes it worse is how judgemental the supposedly "well-off" region are. And so anytime someone criticizes these pockets of affluence it is straight away tagged as "jealousy". Case in point Gujrat and Gujjus. xxx

How does it further their cause? I often expect to be able to find some justification for their actions, even if I disagree with them, but I'm surprised by how often I am left with no answer whatsoever. Group A wants Assam to be "liberated." Fine, how does carried out serial bombing further that cause? Group B wants India to be a Muslim only society. Okay, how does planting bombs in marketplaces accomplish that? The only attacks I seem to be able to find justification for are the ones targeting a specific group of people. Sectarian violence, if you will. Group A hates Group B so they decide to carry out a bloodbath. Group B wants revenge so they do the same. As twisted and sad as that is, at least I can see why. But for so many of these attacks, I am at a loss. Can anyone shed some light on this?

It is the ease that makes people do such acts and feel a certain kind of satisfaction, if only partially. Currently we have a situation in Mumbai where certain "migrants" are being targetted. Now it is inherently difficult for these migrants to come back to their "homeland" and work their entire life to change things around. And even then it may not work. On the other hand how difficult would it be if one of these "migrants" just put an explosive in a crowded area and soaked in "satisfaction" of "avenging" his humiliation?? An easy exmaple would be the Bombay blasts of early 90s. A definite cause, if only marginal, was the way Tiger Memon's shop was destroyed in earlier riots. Tiger Memon who was by no means pro-India anytime now suddenly became anti-India and became the nucleus of Bombay blast. Memom had no agenda as such but I am sure he felt extremely pleased with killing folks who had absolutely nothing to do with his shop destruction. xxx

These people have obviously justified their actions in their own minds. I'm simply interested in hearing that justification.

They all have some reason or other. The only ones I can sympathize with are the Palestinians who don't even have a place to live. When you got nothing and have to live under the guns of your neighbour and have some pretty clueless leaders, you can't really be blamed for going nuts. Even there, innocent civilians should be off targets.
