For those that may be unware, on Halloween kids put on various costumes from draculas to supermans to batmans to princesses,etc and go from house to house saying 'Trick or Treat' and people give them candies. Hardly do people do a 'Trick' and give a treat. I've also gone to a couple of Halloween's collecting candies:haha: Some funny stories: some of the desi guys would give rice and reories and money too. Its true I tell'ya An Indian festival that kind of resembles this is Lohri, the reasons why these are celebrated are quite different. On Lohri in India, kids used to (not sure if it still is the case even a little back it was rare) used to go from house to house and singing famous 'bolis'. They were usually given reories or rewaries. One of the famous 'bolis'. I think this is it, perhaps a little change of words here and there “ sundar mundariya,ho tera kon vichara,ho dula bhati wala,ho dula di dhee viahi,ho ser shakar pai,ho kudhi de bojha pai,ho kudhi da salu patha,ho salu kon samate,ho chacha gali dese,ho chacha churi kuti,ho geemedaran luti,ho gin-gin pola lao,ho ik pola gus giya,ho uh vahoti le ke nas giya,ho ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho” If the kids didnt get anything, they would end the poem with ' hookah vi hookah eh ghar bhuka ' :haha: What are you going to be for Halloween?
