Must be some ancient Test match - it is beyond old 80s, age old 70s and maybe even age age old 1960s cricket. No one in their right frame of mind would do it in last few decades.
certainly not in ancient times , I can tell you it was in the 1970s. Its very difficult and I doubt anyone will know it unless you read cricket books and also remember events from them. But the answer will be ....rather unsurprising...:D I would need to know the context , for giving the money :-)

Here is another one....With so much talk about the switch hit of Pietersen in recent times...does anyone know when was the first time a switch hit was played by an INDIAN batter, maybe the first ever too in an international game. Switch hit means of course, reversing the batting grip after the ball is bowled, and not a reverse sweep etc, as most would know. hint : it was during a Reliance world cup game.
Mike Gatting in world cup 87 final

Well, all my questions have been pretty tough and can be answered/guessed with plenty of clues...but here goes...another one.. Can anyone name an Indian player who had fielded for the opponent in a test match, when he himself was part of the playing 11 for India ? 10,000 for the first correct answer.
Was this Kripal Singh in 1963-64 when too many Englishmen were out sick ? Add : A second guess in case it is not Kripal - Hanumant Singh in the same series.

I seem to remember that Srikkanth played a reverse sweep off Dipak Patel in the second round game against New Zealand. In Patel's first over, which went for 16. Not sure whether it was a switch hit

i was listening to the AIR commentary. just for a few overs on the last day of a drawn test in the late 70's, i vaguely remember Vengsarkar coming on the field as a substitute fielder in a test when Kirmani and Ghavri were batting.those days i have watched Vishvanath, Gavaskar and even kirmani bowling on the last day, around mandatory overs time.just to bring the curtains down on a boring draw.

I am not sure which series you mean, but is it Tony Grieg's England of 1976-77 ? That was the only time in the 70s Eng toured India after Tony Lewis team of 72-73. I had followed all those series , and I remember that Delhi test of 76-77, when Dennis Amiss and Alan Knott pulling Eng out with Amiss getting 179. Lever mowed India down and we lost by an inngs, We lost the first 3 tests, Delhi, Calcutta and Chennai , won in Banglore and last test drawn....but dont remember that at all...no boring draw

I dont think Kripal Singh was in the Indian 11 then. But then I also mentioned this was in the 70s. Here is another hint : The test match was not in India.
