only if they can make this kind of thinking mainstream islam http://www.rediff.com/news/2008/dec/05mumterror-muslims-have-gained-nothing-from-terrorism.htm On November 26, Mumbai witnessed the worst kind of terror attack. Ten terrorists entered several buildings and indiscriminately fired at people, leaving behind several dead and wounded. According to a tradition, at the time of the Prophet there was a man whose only concern was to speak negatively of the Prophet and spread wrong ideas about him. The son of this man became very angry and asked the Prophet to allow him to kill his father. The Prophet told him not to do that, as then people would say that the Prophet allowed killing among his people. The lesson which can be inferred from this incident is that anything, which defames the name of Islam should not be done. These incidents are mentioned in books but people fail to infer or draw lessons from them as they do not engage in deep study. In the Jewish Talmud there are many stories. In one incident, the Prophet Moses prayed to God: "O! God, take anything away from my followers but do not take away their wisdom." God replied: "O! Moses, if we decide to take away something from a community, it is their wisdom that we take away." Today, many Muslims have lost their wisdom, as is evident from the events which have taken place recently. Those Muslims who are said to be involved in terrorism in Mumbai gained nothing. In Palestine, the Arabs have been fighting for the last 60 years and have not achieved anything. In many places Muslims have resorted to suicide bombings, although suicide is unlawful in Islam. This is a result of deterioration and lack of wisdom. Those who are behind these suicide attacks are not afraid of accountability and the fact they will have to stand in front of God after death. What is the reason for this madness and how did it originate? The reason for this madness is hatred. Hate can make a man do anything. Hate began from Satan. When God created Adam, He asked the angels and Satan to bow before Him. Satan however, did not bow and consequently, God said to him: "You and your followers will go to hell." Satan had developed such hate for man that despite knowing that he will be cast into hell, he did not obey God's command. Hate is so blinding that it can take one to hell. I have studied in Muslim seminaries, madrassas and have participated in numerous Muslim gatherings, and in many of these places hatred and pride is instilled in the minds of Muslims. They are taught: 'We are the caliphs and vice-regent of God on earth." I once met an Arab whose first question to me was, "Who are we?" He then said: "We are the Caliphs of God on earth." I told him that this is not written anywhere in our books. The Sahih Al-Bukhari says that Muslims are witnesses of God. That is, they have to spread the message of God on earth. The same is alluded to in the Quran, that is, the task of Muslims is to spread God's message and lead a life according to His instructions. However, Muslims have made themselves the self-appointed Caliphs, and have launched all sorts of movements that propagate the ideology of capturing political power. This thinking emerged when the Ottoman and Mughal empires declined, and Muslims started considering the rest of the world as usurpers and oppressors who snatched their rights and power from them. Political power is like an examination paper. A test paper can never be the monopoly of one; it would change hands from people to people as God wants to test every community. Hence if political power has been taken away from you then you need to have patience. When political power was with you then it was your test paper and now, when it has been given to someone else, it is their test paper. No Muslim leader could tell this to the Muslims and pacify the political shock which they received after the breaking up of the Muslim empires in the face of Western colonialism. No one told them that their test paper of political power was over and now they should concentrate their effort on some other constructive activities like education, reform, dawah work etc. In Palestine, for example, it was God's decision to give the political power to somebody else. Hence, Muslims should have accepted it, but they started fighting and now 60 years of fighting has given them nothing. Muslims should have realised that God had now wanted to test some other community. Therefore, he gave them political power. But Muslims rose up to fight, and it was equivalent to fighting God's decision and hence they attained nothing. As a result, all the Muslims got conditioned in hateful thinking. Before the Second World War, the thinking of the Japan [images]ese was same as that of the Muslims. Hirohito was the emperor of Japan at that time. The Japanese had the concept of Imperial Divinity, that is their king -- the so-called 'god-king' -- should rule the world. Consequently, they fought with many countries. It was the Japanese who started the concept of suicide bombing known as hara-kiri. But in 1945 America dropped two atomic bombs on Japan and the Japanese army was completely destroyed. Japan suffered a humiliating defeat. Then the Japanese developed second thoughts, that is, if the king was god then he would have saved them, but because they were severely crippled due to those bombs they realised that the king was not god. Hirohito then renounced the concept of Imperial Divinity and the Japanese have never looked back since then. This makes me ponder as to why this hate does not get finished among Muslims? This is because Muslims' hate is a reflection of a certain mind-set. The so-called 'god-king' of the Japanese was proved wrong and therefore the concept of 'god-king' died. However, a mind-set cannot be done away on its own. The mind-set which inspires hate for others in many Muslims cannot be killed like an individual. Nor can it cannot kill itself. This mind-set can be replaced by deconditioning alone. Hirohito said "I'm not god," and this led the Japanese to discard their unfounded notions and pave the path to progress. But the case of Muslims is very different. In their case, their mind-set has to be transformed to change their thinking. The thinking of Muslims has to be changed. There has to be long process of deconditioning. There are two kinds of deconditioning: one is the Prophetic deconditioning; that is the deconditioning which the Prophet did of his companions. Then the companions did the deconditioning of some of their companions. But now there is no prophet and so self-deconditioning has to be done. This is a very difficult task. Ideological deconditioning has to be done among the Muslims to help them come out of hate. It is essential to understand that distinction between the negative engineering of the mind and positive engineering of the mind. Today, minds are being negatively engineered with hatred and pride. Many Muslims live in this fallacy that they are a special race, and when they are not treated specially then they are frustrated and hold others responsible for their not receiving the special treatment that they expect. The mission of positive engineering of the mind is very difficult. You have to do merciless introspection. It is our test to convert the thinking of people from negative to positive. The terrorists who assaulted Mumbai had done extensive planning. This made me think why these people were so capable of negative planning, and completely lacked any inclination towards positive planning. This sort of mentality, unfortunately, has become endemic among many Muslims. Nobody is doing planning for the positive task of spreading God's message, and love and peace. This is because as years passed by, this work became dead in Muslims. But it alone can promote positive planning as it requires well-wishing for the whole of humankind. We must therefore focus our energies on spreading God's love and restrain from any negative and destructive activities.

I smell taqiyyah of the highest quality. I will reply later.
It could very well be but at least someone has audacity to fake goodness I seldom see those coming out of that group. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/India/Avoid_cow_slaughter_on_Eid_Deoband/articleshow/3797689.cms Another good gesture..Why cud not this have happene way back. Sangh parivar has been requesting them to take this step since ages.. It has happeend now. most probably out of mortal fea of public angerr. I would still welcome it should have come in peace time on its own volition. Other than the desire to affornt hindus I never thought this practice had any purpose.. Holy book doesn;t say thou shal must slaughter cow.. If you must there are n number of aniumals.. if this small gesture can bring harmony I always wondered why they were being admanat.. Heres the reason why I said its taqiyyah : http://www.faithfreedom.org/challenge/massmurderer.htm http://www.faithfreedom.org/challenge/terrorist.htm The beloved maulana might have good intentions but he is certainly cherry picking if not outright taqiyyah. wait a minute werent we being told by the resident apologists that all (well almost all) muslims are peaceloving and sensitive to Hindu sentiments ? Didnt someone say in this thread that Hindus (at least in Lucknow) havent had to forego some of their rights to live peacefully with the ROPers ? Wonder where proff went after post # 264 in this thread http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showpost.php?p=533407&postcount=264
I know he is cherry picking but some how if they cud cherry-pick and assemble these in one book that replaces the existing one then I wud have no problem..

mustn't the sangh parivar be more focused on encouraging vegetarianism amongst hindus first?

no i dont wish to debate the merits or the demerits of vegetarianism, i am concerned about why the sangh parivar is being a busybody with a religion that is not within its realm of interest, while being blind to the blatant hypocricy of other hindus? at a temple, are we reminded of what we must do as hindus or what we must oppose that other muslims and christians do?

Have you even been to one temple .. I guess not.. so shut your mouth ..You have this habit of crapping about things you have nary a clue about.. Again repeat after me (1) religion has nothing do with logic it;s belief system with sentiment atatched to it (2) nobody is campaigning for vegetarianism just some spiritual sentiment attached to cow hence the request (3)Yes if you have ever bothered to attend any sangh gathering or any temple gathering you wud know they seldom talk about if ever on the lines of what others do it's always what hindus should do. (4) this Imama who seems to have morse snese than you, seems finally understood this and hence the suggestion (5)Muslims aren't scripurally bound to sacrifice and cow and cow only they could sacrifice any animal (6)Yes everyone knows it's hypocrisy to not kill one animal and kill others incidentally hinduism doesn't want that either and if you againa have happend to attend any dharma-guru's conference they do preach total shunning of meat by hindus.. notice they have not preached that part to muslims or christains . (7) yes they have not been successful in achieving the complete vegetarianism goal for plethora of reasons One being hindu scripture being not so strong on vegetarianism (8) communal harmony cant wait till everyone attains nirvana and shuns hypocrisy. You do things who at best are harmless may not make sense for communal harmony that's precisely what is being done here

Is Ali Sina still alive??
Yes he is . I guess he has not reveald his identity. BTW Satyarth Prakash of Shri Swami Dayanand Saraswati the great social reformer has addressed everything that Alin Sina today is popularizing.Great govt of India at the time of indepedence banned one chapter of Satyarth Prakahs dealing wiht logical fallacy in islam. It's treatise on logical debate one must go through that book at least once.

so i guess cows are more sentimental to us than the hens, goats, and the occasional pigs that are slaughtered to satiate the palates of numerous hindus? you would be hard pressed to find any literature from the hindu mythology that suggests that cows are particularly revered when it comes to the slaughter of any animal.

while the issue at hand here may sound very trivial and inconsequential to you - gee what surprise there - but there is that little thingy called right to practice Hinduism. And last time I checked cows are as holy as anything in Hinduism. (Or did that get amended under extreeme pressure from Janab Mullah Bukhari )
and is that practice not in jeopardy when one chooses to consume meat... whilst hypocritically opposing the slaughter of cows.

i think that is incorrect. there is enough evidence in the bhagavad gita placing overwhelming importance on a non-karmic life. being vegetarian is very much a part of that endeavor.

Yes it is ... But in the defense of RSS they dont differentiate (but they dont try to force it ). The hardcore Jains go after Muslims for this reason. But what escapes you is that if avg hindus and jains had their way and were equally fanatic they would have forced the rest of the carnivorous population into being veggies. The only reason why we tolerate all that god awefull butchery is in the best interest of communal harmony. So asking them to respect a holy cow does not mean they (RSS) are being intolerant.
to begin with i am not accusing the RSS or the Sang Parivar of being intolerant. if anything i am intolerant of nonvegetarians, regardless of their religion, if any. furthermore, i feel that the RSS is often maligned, inaccurately, but predominantly because it is attempting to establish itself at the cusp of religion and politics (part of the persuasion for my sympathies for the RSS arise from the fact that both my grand parents are avid RSS members). however, what i am protesting is that how does preventing cow sacrifice (sacrifice to who? a vindictive, unappreciative pseudo god?) improve the situation any bit? and consequently, cannot the muslims demand an cessation of pig slaughtering? but above all, if there exist non vegetarian hindus, how does preventing cow slaughters on one day in a whole year alleviate the situation any bit?

I respect your vegetarian drive.. I do not respect myself for this.. I know I should not be eating but I am weak I keep falling for the temptation. For this act alone I am sure if there is hell I sud be thrown there.. Although trying my best to compensate this crime by other goods but I think no redemption is good enough..My position is honestly worse than those who are not convinced that killing for food is crime.. I am convinced it;s and yet I indulge into it OTOH if there is no hell then I am happy camphor won't be paying for my crime but I am committing the crime nonetheless.. Keeping this in mind to be fair for instance that terrorist who thinks killing in name of jihad is not crime because holy book says so then that terrorist sud not be punished. If god is fair then he sud direct punishment for all this to that great man who came up with this book .... these poor chaps are just jombie following him.... You know sthg is wrong and yet you do it then you are criminal in eyes of eternal moral police that is GOD.. if you don't know it's wrong then no guilt sshould come your way. All this is based on assumption that GOD is fair but going by his works I belive he is anything but fair particualrlry as per islam-chrstian theology... Think about it here is a god supposedly impartial fair merciful .. yet he randmoly throws people in contrasting circumstances. some is born in africa where he/she has to fight hunger since day oen of their lives while others are born litrally in cornucopia of west. some are born healthy some diseased.. where is the fairness in all this....hindu scriptures have exaplined it away by larma of last life but other theology doesn;t have that concept of rebirth... I think I meandered alot .. bottomline is even if there is god he is not fair so why bother taking dictates from an unfair entity. it;s matter of principle you can;t cow me down you unfair man...so do whatever you want for food.. Only people like me are screwed who are hindu and God is fair in my hindu world view and also know killing other living being for food is wrong yet indulge into it........ about cow sacrfice even if there is no logic to it if majority of people think it's a problme and minority of people's relgion doesn;t per se says thou shall must appease god by cow and cow sacrifice only then shunning the sacrifice is worth it

Phir wahi?? Arre dont you guys get tired of being so myopic? You have problems when Muslim community dont do anything about an issue. And when the Muslim community does take some action even then you have some issue!! Why not welcome the move without qualifying with a "Although Sangh Parivar..." yada yada. It is like me calling for Sachin Tendulkar's head in 2006 and when he does retire(looks like 2016 that shameless git), I start another thread yapping - I have been asking for his head for 10 years now!! As for the OP, this is a good gesture and needs all kind of support from Indians, and Hindus. Muslim communities across India has undertaken some very positive measures recently. As in: a) Questioning the pervasive culture amongst the youth of Islam. b) Refusing to bury the dead in any Indian qabrastan. c) Forming youth forces to take on perpetrators and assists cops during bad situations http://www.hindustantimes.com/StoryPage/FullcoverageStoryPage.aspx?id=bb649041-f1d9-456f-9a2d-3cab8841d90eMumbaiunderattack_Special&&Headline=Muslims+form+force+against+terror d) Muslim mosques in India writing explicitly hardline Islamic groups arent welcome in their mosque. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/06/28/AR2008062801101.html These, and news like these, need to be highlighted and not your usual bias. Instead of supporting them you, and BB, are more than happy furthering your own agenda! Are you Sonia Maata and BB Arjun Singh by any chance? xxx

manu smriti... is that not the text with political directives as to how a nation must be governed? but leave that aside, the most poignant text and the two epics condemn non vegetarianism, so why is there even an ounce of ambiguity about this? lets face it, hindus who eat meat are hypocritical fracks. and if you are a non vegetarian, than you really must look to change that. i turned vegetarian when i was 14 and i have never felt inconvenienced by my choice.

religion is not the only motivation you must look to for turning vegetarian. the reason i turned vegetarian was an article published in 1997 in an ecological magazine in india called "gobar times" (yeah gobar as in a cow's dung). the article was an economic study of non vegetarianism. it concluded that in order to grow 1 pound (i presume the article used the metric system so convert all pounds to kilos) of meat, especially meat harvested from the larger animals such as goats, cows etc, the resources expended are equal to the resources used to grow 16 pounds of grain. i.e. the resources spent in nurturing a calf from the day of its birth till the day it is harvested for its meat, where say it weighs 100 kgs, would be about the same as the resources utilized in producing 1600 kgs of grain. furthermore, the caloric equivalence between meat and grains is about 1:3. i.e. the caloric, and nutrient value of 1 lb of meat is equal to that of 3 lbs of grain. thus, for a balanced diet, for every 1lb of meat, one must substitute 3 lbs of grain (appropriately chosen of course). however, if that 1 lb of meat was never harvested, one could have had 16 lbs of grain... more than 5 times the 3 lb requirement. thus in conclusion, the study suggested that the ecological footprint of meat is 5 times that of grain. i.e. there is 5 times more land needed to grow meat than is required to grow grains. there is 5 times more water needed for irrigation, there is 5 times more fertilizers needed, 5 times more labor needed! in the current world where millions starve on a daily basis in our nation alone, an individual choosing to eat meat is doing a considerable disservice to his nation and humanity. i would write more about how the meat industry is ruining the amazon rain forest and how it is destabilizing that region, but i have finals coming up. so i implore to you, start slow, eliminate pork and goat (i doubt you eat steak); then gradually eliminate poultry. eventually you can eliminate eggs.
