kabira Posted March 21, 2007 Author Share Posted March 21, 2007 Re: Point System for Super 8 Superselector: Read carefully yoda, for India's batting we see India scoring rate and count points accordingly similarly for Bermuda's batting we calculate based on their scoring rate...So Hemp guy had SR of 80 or so..and scored 70 odd...their par SR is 60...so that will give me lot of points.. yoda Posted March 21, 2007 Share Posted March 21, 2007 Re: Point System for Super 8 Superselector: Read carefully yoda, for India's batting we see India scoring rate and count points accordingly that's wrong imo. just because a team accelerated effectively in the later stages shouldn't minimize runs scored earlier. with your approach, if a team loses a lot of tailender wickets and does a poor job in the last 10 wickets, earlier scores would get more points. on the other hand, if the team did very well in the last 10 overs and upped the overall score to a healthy one, earlier scores would get less points. if you take the average of both teams that kind of gives you the effective/par RR for the pitch. remember in the super 8s, minnows (most of them) are out. so the differences between team RRs won't be as drastic as in these first rounds.
