If we cant catch 10 terrorists hiding in Indian territory then what do we plan to do if we are allowed to cross into POK ... Eight long days after the Army began operations to flush out terrorists in Mendhar in Jammu and Kashmir, it has called off its efforts, claim the terrorists have probably escaped. Sounds of gun fire over the last eight days made this serene land look like a warzone, as security forces battled to flush out militants holed up in caves inside a dense jungle Bhati Dhar near the LoC. However, despite a tireless operation, the Army yesterday (January 8) was forced to call off operation against the militants with the Army claiming that the operation had been called off as there was a possibility of terrorists having slipped out taking advantage of the rugged terrain and prevailing climatic conditions. The encounter, which has been going on since January 1, has claimed the lives of four militants, and three security personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer. Intercepts available with security forces have suggested that there were about ten militants, some of them top commanders of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. This latest encounter in the hills of Jammu and Kashmir sounds a reminder of the threat the country faces from militants, who could very well have come from across the border.

gs Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Airforce might be an overkill, but heavy field guns or MBRL rockets can do this task. Letting them slip through the net should never be an option!!!
