Mohammad Yousuf, the Pakistani batsman, has ruled out ending his association with the unsanctioned ICL, instead suggesting the PCB should resolve the impasse over the Indian Twenty20 league with the ICC. Yousuf is among the 11 ICL players permitted to play domestic cricket in Pakistan after the Sind High Court temporarily lifted the bans imposed by the PCB, but the board maintains he will have to leave the ICL in order to play international cricket. "How can I break my contract with the ICL, which is for a period of three years," Yousuf said. "If the PCB wants me to play for Pakistan they should resolve the matter with the ICC. "I am a cricketer and playing cricket is my profession. I never wanted to be embroiled in court cases but the previous PCB set-up got me entangled in court cases, and now I am unable to represent my country." Yousuf had initially signed up with the ICL in September 2007, but opted out after the PCB intervened with the promise of a lucrative contract in the IPL. But the ICL took the matter to an arbitration court in Mumbai, arguing that as Yousuf had signed up with them, he was ineligible to play for any other league. Yousuf failed to bag an IPL contract, and eventually joined the ICL in November 2008. However, he said he was available to play for Pakistan. "I am still world's No. 2 player in Test rankings and No. 9 [he's ranked No. 8] in one-day rankings and have a lot to offer to my country," he said. "It is up to the PCB to realise how important I am for the team." The PCB's present administration has been keen on getting back ICL players into the fold, but while also maintaining that it would be only possible if the ICL reaches a compromise with the BCCI and ICL. The ICC deferred a decision on the ICL's move for recognition at its last board meeting in Perth, but a meeting between the ICL, ICC and BCCI has been arranged on February 21 in Johannesburg.

More... PCB lashes out at Mohd Yousuf PTI Saturday, February 14, 2009 17:11 IST Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board has lashed out at Mohammad Yousuf for suggesting that the PCB was under pressure from the Indian board and towing its line on the Indian Cricket League issue. In a press statement issued on Saturday, the PCB said Yousuf's statement was based on lack of knowledge and understanding of the directives issued by the International Cricket Council on the ICL issue. "Yousuf's allegation against the board is incorrect and an attempt to malign the institution," the statement said. Yousuf has repeatedly said that the PCB should stop coming under pressure from the Indian cricket authorities and allow its players who are signed up with the ICL to play domestic and international cricket. Yousuf, who was banned for aligning with the ICL, claimed that the Indian board was trying to derail Pakistan cricket by creating rifts between players and the board. But the PCB statement said that it was an independent body that only took directives from the governing body of world cricket. "There is no truth in Yousuf's allegation that the PCB is towing the Indian board line," the statement said. "The PCB and all other cricket boards are components of the ICC and only take directives from the ICC," it said. "The ICC directive is clear that all members boards will not allow its players to participate or take part in any tournament/league not recognized by it." The statement said Yousuf had made false allegations and attempted to malign the board and also recalled he was the one who had broken his central contract with the board and joined the ICL. Yousuf is due to hold a press conference on Saturday in Karachi.

Yousuf is a greedy scum. he jumped on ICL bandwagon because of money and also because he worked out that many teams were cancelling tours to pakistan, his chances of earning would be brighter with ICL. Then DNA team assured him compensation and pulled him back. he ditched ICL and switched back to PCB. then he wanted more money and tried to join IPL.Promptly ICL filed suit for breaking their agreement. Yousuf rejoined ICL. Made money. now that ICL is on doldrums due to Economic crisis, wants to come back to PCB for contract money and blames PCB for all the mess! here is a greedy character who is maligning Shoaib Malik and PCB and tries to cover up all his manic vacillations in pursuit of money and is preaching priorities! ever heard the case of the satan quoting scriptures, here it is!
