For whatever reason, I haven't ever felt Bach was on the same plane as Beethoven. Mozart, yes. While not mature, there's a charm and beauty to his music that could rival Beethoven (or so I felt before hearing the Furtwangler performance), and his 41st Symphony - particularly that dramatic finale - is one of the great works. But either way, after hearing the Furtwangler in full (the entire 68 minute epic, which I'll be uploading in installments - movement #1 is now going up) I'm now having a hard time putting Beethoven on a parallel with anyone.

Google Fredrick Magle....I will too...by the way....did you listen to the song above? You have to listen to it to know what chill actually means.

Learn to fly, my firends:
On an aside, have you heard the Tom Petty song by the same name? One of my very favourites (although I do have a soft spot and plenty of space on my ipod for Petty & the Heartbreakers).

Not yet sir. Right now I've got a bit of the Grateful Dead (live) playing, and I don't interrupt Terrapin Station for anything. :D What an awesome song that is. Once that's done I'll play that clip.

I'll email you a couple of the other Petty classics then. Great stuff. Running Down a Dream is one of my favourite things to listen to when driving. xtgYXLl3Wgc&feature=related BTW, I've also emailed you the other three movements of the Furtwangler.
