Please understand that fitness does not equal results. It simply means that errors that would otherwise occur, would be avoided. For instance, better fitness and you might save ten odd runs in the field with ease. And that often goes long ways in the psychological war that the two teams are engaged in. as fineleg said, "why!?"... if you think that your chances of victory are slim, then they are absolutely nonexistent if you dont try! Appropriate timing for that thread... one week later we drop some 5-6 catches (at least), let off a double centurion twice and a few of his colleagues, and get comprehensively outplayed thanks to the gulf in fielding. Contrast that with NZ fielding and their catching. They are kicking us hard. Physical fitness, agility, athleticism and fielding commitment are must in cricket these days (running between wickets as well). Link to comment
