You cannot absorb the blast of a Supernova with a Blackhole Mr. Abrams!

"...create a black hole to absorb the blast of the supernova..." In the new avatar of the Star Trek motion picture that i watched first show, a mere 6 hours before i had two finals back to back... i walked out insulted, upset and heartbroken. No, I do not hate the movie because it does not have Kirk (it does have Spock and you can never have enough Spock), but i dislike the movie since Mr. Abrams disrespected me. He trivialized my intelligence and tried to convince me that the heart of a spaceship looks disturbingly like the innards of a deep sea submarine. Water as a coolant. Water as a coolant? Water as a coolant! For the sake of comedic relief, there is a sequence where water is used as a coolant. A coolant for a warp engine that is supposedly conducting matter-antimatter reactions that yield energy at the magnitude of several Mega Electron Volts per mole. I dont think water will be an efficient coolant for such a setup. So go with the easier option, dont try to demonstrate it you fool! The movie was a visual orgasm... meant for the general american audience with double digit IQs. It was not for the more sophisticated audience who can, nay desire, intellectual engagement. I walked out of Batman Begins an invigorated man, willing to tear down the walls of social division and strike harder for that egalitarian society Batman fought for... I walked out of Star Trek puzzled: "why did i risk my grade for this?!" Go watch the movie, but if this is where the future of the series lies, I am afraid, Star Trek has gone the way of Prison Break... dumb, predictable and meant for idiots.

speculative fiction/scientific fiction has been successful for the very reason that it espouses to inform and inspire just as much as it strives to entertain... but if dumb fooks cant handle that, then as i suggested, watch reruns of prison break mate.

You are Einstein:hatsoff: I am dumb and lack in intellect:(( lets meet in real life sometime mate- things might be quite different than online personas Anyway I can see that you are not capable of handling sense of humor (didn't know that was a requirement for being a Phd) so I'll leave you alone- Enjoy!!
