Bradman99 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Australian fast bowler Brett Lee overnight spoke about the recent attacks on Indian students in Melbourne and lent his support for international students in Australia. Lee, an ambassador for Deakin University in India, has spoken to the University vice-chancellor Professor Sally Walker about student safety at its four Victorian campuses, in particular its major Melbourne campus. 'The university is taking a number of steps to help our Indian students not just feel safe, but be safe,' Lee said. 'The university is doing everything it can to ensure the safety of students. Deakin will be providing advice on how to keep out of harms ways, and also counselling for anyone who feels unsure at this time,' noted Lee. 'I would say to anyone who is concerned to contact the university or it’s office in India.' Of the 35 000 students enrolled at Deakin, approximately 1500 are Indian, the University having strong links by being the first foreign University to open offices in India. Vice-chancellor Sally Walker reiterated Lee’s comments and assured Indian students of the support of the University. 'Our relationship with India is an enduring one,' said Deakin University vice chancellor Sally Walker. 'We are as devastated by recent events as anyone but we feel that working together with current and future students, we can resolve all the issues,' she added. http://www.cricket.com.au/default.aspx?s=news-display&id=16286
