Re: Crucial BCCI meet today BCCI conclave: Chappell take's part of the blame Nothing specific is reported here. So let us wait for the leaks in the evening. This is a more detailed report though: Greg Chappell Offers Detailed Presentation To BCCI, Lists Various Problems Ailing Indian Cricket Along With Remedies Submitted by Sudhakar Shanbhag on Fri, 2007-04-06 10:22. The BCCI has probably released a sanitised version of reports presented by out-going coach Greg Chappell and team manager Sanjay Jagdale in the board meeting held in Mumbai on Friday, which was called to review India?s poor showing at the World Cup. A BCCI release at the end of the first session of the meeting, mentioned that Chappell gave a detailed presentation on India?s poor showing at the World Cup and listed various problems ailing Indian cricket and also suggested remedies to improve upon the shortcomings. Chappell in his report refrained from blaming any player for India?s below par showing at the World Cup but has gone on to accept partial responsibility for the Cup fiasco. BCCI president Mr Sharad Pawar, has in his reciprocation, complimented Chappell for his professional approach and has also expressed the desire to hire the Australian as National Cricket Academy consultant. Mr Pawar has said that Chappell has a lot to offer to Indian cricket, despite his decision to quit as coach. However, team manager Sanjay Jagdale has blamed the batsmen for India?s downfall at the World Cup as he presented his report to the board after Chappell had completed his CD presentation. Meanwhile, captain Rahul Dravid in his report has accepted responsibility for India?s exit from World Cup while offering suggestions for improvement. Dilip Vengsarkar, the chairman of BCCI?s selection committee, also offered his thoughts to the board while calling for steps to strengthen domestic cricket and creating a larger pool of players to select from with future in mind. Vengsarkar, who has captained Indian in the past, was unhappy that the team failed to play to its potential at the World Cup and crashed out from the group stage. The board, it is learnt, is looking for an interim coach for the forthcoming tour of Bangladesh in May and has plans to hunt for a full time coach later on. However, Mr Pawar wants the new coach to be a motivator besides being aggressive in his approach, a person with good track record, and above all endowed with man management skills for the betterment of Indian cricket. In the meanwhile, Chappell has deferred his departure from Mumbai by a day and will leave for Singapore on Saturday, on his way home. ---------------------------------------------- Well?

Re: Crucial BCCI meet today Great now everyone is excited about Chappell being an NCA consultant. IMO going forward he has more to offer Indian cricket than money grabbers like SRT and Ganguly. Its sad that things came to a point that he had to resign but it will be pretty hypocritical for people on this forum to welcome his being a part of NCA if they thought he was a bad coach and always blamed others for his failure etc. etc. Its glad to see that BCCI sees the value he brings sadly the same cant be said about SRT idolizers who have a very biased world view.

I agree with you novpj. Its funny to realise that Indian fans are like NASDAQ stock market. They get excited by every news! Yesterday called Chappell a donkey today calling him someone with a vision to change Indian cricket through NCA. What a hypocrisy. Chappell has learnt that there is no point bring any inch of improvement into these fickle minds that's why he got out of themeeting in no time. Personally I dont want him as NCA coach. let this man go home and have a life. He could make lot more by doing analysis of the game.

Re: Crucial BCCI meet today Team manager Sanjay Jagdale too explained performance of the team and was of the opinion that the entire team, particularly the batsmen, failed in the matches against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. "He too was of the opinion that the youngsters should be inducted to improve our cricket," he said. Chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar too was of the opinion that BCCI should strengthen domestic cricket and create a pool of 25-30 cricketers from which the Indian team could be selected. According to a Times Now report, Yuvraj Singh was quoted as saying that there was never a problem of unity within the team. Yuvraj said the players are united behind Sachin and Chappell's resignation was his own decision. Yuvraj said he would shoulder whatever responsibilty is given to him, the report added.

Hypocrisy??? What are you showing here? Not all Indian fans can be the same (it looks that you certainly are not an Indian fan). I have praised this move of making Chappall an NCA consultant, if it is true! Where did I take part in calling Chappell whatever?!
