West Indies win over India by 7 Wickets It will be one of the standout moments of this T20 World Cup, but, in the end, it wasn’t in a winning effort. Yuvraj Singh’s wonderfully performed flick six over mid-wicket off Jerome Taylor was one of the few moments that would have brought joy to the Indian camp on Friday. The champions crashed to a seven-wicket defeat against the West Indies in their opening SuperEights encounter, putting their semifinal hopes in real jeopardy. The Windies overhauled the target with eight balls to spare. With the openers, Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir, failing to get the team off to the customary flier, the hardly tested middle-order found itself with the task of getting a total that would provide a challenge. They managed to get to 153/7, with Yuvraj Singh being the standout performer with a 43-ball 67. As such, 154 aren’t the easiest of targets to defend, and listless fielding did not help matters. Then, Dwayne Bravo played an innings of absolute class to safely steer his side to a well-deserved win. The all-rounder smashed 66 off just 36 balls to snuff out any hopes India had of a win. He won the game with an awesome inside-out six over cover. 46 runs came off the last 3.4 over of the Windies’ innings, most of them from Bravo’s bat. This crush means India have to win both their left behind playoffs.
