Good on him ! And as usual, ,most of the muslims and other liberal elitists who were quite generous with their two cents when the issue was burqa ban in france are suddenly suffering from laryngitis !:--D And trust Islamic countries to fight for the rights of the poor women just like they did when it came to burqa ban.:winky: http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5hn39MH2gCD6uRpe1mF4pLf5md7JA Sarkozy vows to help Sudan trouser woman (AFP) – 3 days ago PARIS — President Nicolas Sarkozy vowed Thursday that France would continue to support a "courageous" Sudanese woman who faces 40 lashes for wearing trousers. "We will continue to work with her to help in her struggle which is the struggle of all women and which honours her," he wrote, in a letter made public by his office. Sarkozy spoke of his "emotion" and "deep concern" for the fate of Lubna Ahmed al-Hussein, whose trial on public indecency charges is "an intolerable attack on women's rights". He wrote the letter in response to a query from France's Communist leader Marie-George Buffet, who has also voiced concerns over the case. "Like you, I can only have profound admiration for the courage and the determination of young Lubna," he wrote. "Her battle is a just cause." The judge in the Khartoum trial has adjourned the trial to September 7 to determine whether Hussein, a journalist who also works with the United Nations, has legal immunity. Hussein, who is in her 30s, was charged with public indecency after she was arrested last month along with 12 other women who were wearing trousers at a Khartoum restaurant. Hussein has said she wants to be tried to challenge a law that decrees a punishment of whipping for people wearing "indecent" clothes, and told a hearing last week that she wished to waive her UN immunity.
