Gunner_Mania
New Delhi: A public-interest litigation (PIL) was initiated in the Supreme Court today to seek a ban on staging matches of the Indian Premier League at night for reasons ranging from security to waste of power. "The probability of an extremist attack is more during night hours," the PIL said. "Power cut is very common in all parts of the country. We should therefore be rational in using power. In order to cater to the requirements of the cricket matches, there will be accelerated power cuts in more and more areas." The Howrah Ganatantrik Nagarik Samity, which filed the petition along with Howrah residents Subhash Datta and Subhash Chandra Basu, said "public money cannot be used for the commercial venture of private organisations or individuals". Their petition said, "The income generated from the IPL cricket matches goes to the coffers of a non-government body like BCCI and to different other private organisers of the individual teams, but money is spent from the state exchequer for making the tournament a success. "If the timing of the cricket matches is rescheduled to day hours instead of night hours, the country, our society, environment, security aspects, and the people at large will be benefited without causing any discomfort, difficulty, and hardships to the organisers and cricket lovers." The petition said the traffic and police forces are withdrawn from their daily duties and deployed for managing the event, putting extra pressure on them and leading to a lack of efficiency. :omg: :kkr: Fan club???? ViruRulez
:WTF: who will see the day matches.. IPL is such a success because it is shown on prime time on TV and after office hours when both stadium spectators as well as TV audience are a lot more than it would be at daytime . another KKR failure and this time from a fan :P
