ViruRulez
WTF .. Cricinfo is reporting auctions scrapped for today and tenders cancelled as per reports. 12.30 pm: The IPL's governing council has decided that under the terms of the tender under clause 11.4 "cancel the existing tender", the existing tender has been cancelled. A new tender will be put out on March 9. The submission deadline for the tender is 10 am on March 21 and it will be opened on that day in Chennai. All new conditions will be out on March 9 - net worth clause of $1billion removed, advance guarantee of $100 million clause has been removed, all existing tenders were never opened and returned to the bidders, minimum bid amount remains the same at $225 million. All those clauses will be removed. Maybe there were too less bids or what due to the restrictions :hmmm: If the clauses are removed then maybe again 25-30 applications including 4-5 Bollywood tenders will be received :dontknow: So, the two new franchisees will be revealed only on March

ViruRulez
what a KLPD lol I also found the clause of only Billionaires bidding for IPL teams ridiculous .. there are only 52 billionaires in India as per Forbes report ... and most billionaires like Tata or Premji would hardly be interested in IPL but will be more interested in their own business or other human causes IPL suits more extrovert or stylish billionaires like Mallya because they can use glamour quotient for publicity of their brands through IPL but most billionaires in India are more humble and not of the extrovert kind
Gunner_Mania
Interesting. The Kerela bid was pulled off for precisely this reason wasn't it that they couldn't satisy the billionaire rule.

Zap_Brannigan
The rule was a good one. It would have prevented the likes of Shah ruk khan,Preity Zinta and RR owners to have gotten a team and treat it like a short term investment. You need big organizations to buy these teams and build them up as a brand. SRK and Preity are treating it as personal brands and Shilpa will do the same. You want these teams to last decades, not a few years.
thevortex
These are lessons for Modi to learn from. If only he can be a little less pushy, the IPL can still go a long way.

From the beginning it was never a cricketing venture but a business/ capitalistic one, a manifestation of a rapidly emerging India's financial teeth. Pakis find it difficult to stomach depths of Indian wallets... Posted by Farce-Follower on (March 07 2010, 16:05 PM GMT) What the hell does BCCI do with all the money...the stadiums are still one big piece of rubble...no proper toilets, food stalls, car parking etc...anyway I guess most Indians are even willing to stand in the hottest of suns to see their 'favourite' cricketers. So be it. Posted by Jamil Akhtar on (March 07 2010, 09:06 AM GMT) my forecast: as lalit has brought money into BCCI, he will be the cause of downfall of cricket - and he will get into huge trouble pretty soon and his overconfidence and hunger of power will cause his downfall. Just a matter of time ... Posted by Eliya Abbas on (March 07 2010, 06:56 AM GMT) luk @ dese billionaires wastin dere money on cricket teams... 300 million is just toooooooooooooooooooooooooo much... dey cud have saved thousands of lives 4 dat much money More bellyaching from the poor people next door. Arkem8
the bambis will probably be pissed if maharastra gets another franchise which will reduce their profits for sure. Not really, Nagpur and Pune both will get IPL teams before the North Eastern, Central and other poorer states(barring Ahmedabad, Lucknow/All'bad, Gurgaon, Kochi etc-etc ) It is a market economy, money speaks louder than common sense. Its just a matter of time...

Arkem8
Posted by Hafeez Khan on (March 08 2010, 20:05 PM GMT) If Mr.Modi is going to stratch his kingdom to the USA than he has to work had, and have to attract more players, which is a very difficult job because the cricket playing countries will not release there players to suffer there own schedule, I am expecting a big problem a head with the cricket, although Pakistan is not going to allow its players to take part in any of IPL game which may beplayed now or next year, because it is a matter of moral and prestige. IPL disgraced not Pakistani players aqnd also Pakistani nation.:) Mr.Modi is making his empire and so9me of the players of other than Indian playeres are going for the money only. There is double standard for some countries they don't want to play i9n pakistan as a nation butindivudual players are going to India although thee is also Bomb blast and other problems as well http://www.cricinfo.com/ipl2010/content/current/story/451193.html HAHAHAHHHAAHAHAHAHAa!!
