The point is that IPL needs to work out a way that benefits the franchise and the players. I have given a simple method before and i will repeat it again. If say MI and KKR wants Dhoni(provided he doesnt mind) from CSK, then MI and KKR should bid an amount for Dhoni. If CSK can match it, then they get to keep him. If not then Dhoni gets the option to either go to MI or KKR or wrk out a new deal with CSK. If he is not happy with all 3 bids, then he can drop out from CSK and enter the full auction. The player, franchise and IPL have to have a fair share of power in these negotiations. Modi cant just run a circus. If the players dont like it they can simply reject and be auctioned off hoping for better pay and new team.
