Add Ross Taylor' date=' Shane watson and shaun marsh to the list. They were hired for a pittance...[/quote'] and lot more. The point is that IPL needs to work out a way that benefits the franchise and the players. I have given a simple method before and i will repeat it again. If say MI and KKR wants Dhoni(provided he doesnt mind) from CSK, then MI and KKR should bid an amount for Dhoni. If CSK can match it, then they get to keep him. If not then Dhoni gets the option to either go to MI or KKR or wrk out a new deal with CSK. If he is not happy with all 3 bids, then he can drop out from CSK and enter the full auction.

yes exactly. But Modi wont do that because he will lose out via the silent bids. The player, franchise and IPL have to have a fair share of power in these negotiations. Modi cant just run a circus. The franchises bought them so they have the right to do what they like with their players.

What if MI retains SRT' date=' ZAK, Dhawan, Nayar, Bhajji + 1 more and then in return get MSD, UV, Sehwag, Gauti, Rohit by outbidding everyone. OMFG! :woot:[/quote'] And what makes you think that if MI have a right to hold on to SRT, ZAK, Bhajji etc. , why on earth wud DD not retain Sehwag and Gauti..same with UV, MSD and Rohit for their teams.. If it was only about money and outbidding others then Ambani's team would have been playing in a single team league by now
