At least this shows CA is focussed more on Tests. Shaun Tait may still play tests if he decides to and could play ODI's. Warner is not good enough for ODI's.

Hodge retired from tests, that's why he wasn't chosen I'd say. Having said that the way the selectors have treated Hodge over the years has been appauling. His record in first class is as good as anyones, he really couldn't do much more to be selected yet somehow they kept ignoring him. He certainly deserved the spot ahead of North.

If you are going to select someone on first class form there are several who would come in front of Hodge. Plenty of players have great domestic records but never get the chance to succeed internationally - it's just part of the game (and this was especially common in the 90's and 00s when Australia had so much depth). North is one of those players who is doomed to be unfashionable: not young, not blonde, not flashy, doesn't have a hot WAG........he'll always be talked down in favour of the latest Wonder Boy of the month. Nothing he can do will stop being for asking for his head (I mean the guy just averaged 100 in the last series).

I am not so sure that Warner wont be good for ODIs. Plus why would they pamper somebody like a Shaun Tait who has publicly retired from Test cricket and has spoken in less than dignified fashion about the 5 day game? I get why they pick him - for limited overs as they state in their announcement. It is just that if they are ready to pick a player for limited overs internationals, I guess Warner should be able to make it. He is too good a package in today's batsmen oriented game. His game is not pleasing but then neither is Phil Hughes' if you are honest. :)

I have no problems with him being in the side now, given his form against New Zealand. All I'm saying is Hodge should of been picked before North in the first place. I don't see why he was overlooked all the time, he did everything possible to make it.

Sehwag failed in his first few matches. But once given chance he succeded. Even having Warner coming in down the order in the one dayers- at say 7 or so to come for a slog for the final 10 overs might be a good idea. He can bowl some decent spinners so I've heard as well.

Dude...We are gambling on Ishant and Irfan !!..we shouldn't be using 'mediocre' too loosely. Should we do an England and get him ..I wish we could. Someone like Clarke sharing the bowling load with Zaheer certainly eases the pressure on the slower bowlers. Don't give these aussie players an expiry date- they are way fitter than the average individual. If needed ..can easily squeeze 2 more years out of him
