The state of Indian Pace resources

Hi I feel that the Indian pace resources ,especially in the IPL has become very narrow have become very narrow and depleted. We dont seem to have a single genuine fast bowler nor even a consistent wicket-taking medium pacer . Sri Lanka seems to suddenly have much better bowling options than us. A comparison taking a few factors into account : 1) Not more than 5 SL pacers played in IPL, while almost 20+ indian bowlers must have played. 2) SL is 1/1000th size of India 3) Pitches are almost same India: 1) Zaheer Khan - Decent but effective only when he gets movement. Otherwise, gets hit around the park 2) Munaf, RP singh, Praveen kumar , vinay, ishant, Tyagi, nehra - all have been ineffective, and have been dropped from by their own IPL teams. SL: Vaas, Malinga, Dilhara, Kulasekhara, Thushara, Mathews, Maharoof , Welegedara - All shown much better form in recent series and IPL. Is indias pace attack really THAT weak now? Discuss.

Assuming you are talking about the T20s and the shorter formats of the game, given the reference to IPL, I feel our bowling is evolving. We have smart medium pacers and a particular Yadav coming through the ranks. Sri Lanka has better players maybe coz we think they have better players. With a population of theirs, which is 80% less than ours, it isn't surprising that a player tends to play till the age of 39 and youngsters get about a year in the team, before getting dropped. We in India, ofcourse have a solid bench-strength and don't need to do that.

Ironically, the Lankan teams pace attack has done much better than India's pace attack (In IPL) ......almost all the indian pacers hav been dropped by their teams. (except zaheer)

Those bolded hardly played 5-6 games from their teams, those underlined played a number of games and the others weren't even picked by IPL teams :--D

I am extremely dissapointed with Ishant ..I understand test matches in the subcontinent where he needs to conserve energy and fitness...but he can't crank it up for 4 overs in the evening when it isn't even that hot ??..the same guy who was bowling 8-9 over spells of hostile pace and swing in Australia
