kabira Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 How is it?? Is it compatible to all the software/tools that were working on XP? I am talking about things like winamp, Quicken etc..
Don Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Re: Windows Vista Bought a new Sony VAIO and got it preinstalled in it. Have the Home premium version. Everything works fine so far except VLC media player. But got a new player in place of that which is much more stable so even thats not a problem.
shailesh Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Re: Windows Vista using at work, ui is ok nothing great, comes across as bulky and resources demanding, better have a top end pc configuration if you are going for it not to mention some $$$.
kabira Posted February 9, 2007 Author Posted February 9, 2007 Re: Windows Vista yup you need minimu 1 GB mem.. Don, what other player you got??
kabira Posted February 9, 2007 Author Posted February 9, 2007 Re: Windows Vista >any reason to upgrade now? planning to buy new laptop..
yoda Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Re: Windows Vista >any reason to upgrade now? planning to buy new laptop.. ok. i have kind of deferred buying a new laptop to let vista settle down, but I am in no hurry.
Don Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Re: Windows Vista kabira i got this new version of k-lite codec pack which virtually enables WMP11 to play any file under the planet including h.264, .mov, Xvid, Divx and .ra/.rm real player files. And all this works with AERO on so its all cool.
kabira Posted February 9, 2007 Author Posted February 9, 2007 Re: Windows Vista coool!!! have your tried it for watching live streaming??
Don Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Re: Windows Vista yeah watched live stream of india/sl on winamp the other day. havent watched any live media on wmp yet but i wud imgine it shud work no problem.
Legend Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Re: Windows Vista @don, that klite thing workz on xp too... and is very old...
Holysmoke Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Re: Windows Vista okay, check this out my pc config = dell inspiron, 1 gb ram, 80 gb hdd, core duo 1.6 GHz, Integrated graphics(intel 945GM) had xp. now installed vista on different partition. Must say, its AWESOME. i spend a lot of time on my comp, a LOT(more than 8 hrs a day), so i like to have a little graphics, make the comp look good :hic: i love vista took 30 mins to install(visual studio took 2 hrs), i did not have to install a SINGLE driver, self installed all of them, driver support for my pc was just "perfect". itunes has a small glitch, but otherwise all programs work, ALL. even installed K-lite codec pack.. so ANY kind of media works. another thing that impressed me, is the speed. normal programs, like itunes, firefox, etc, load much faster..than xp that dosent make sense to me, coz my xp had nothing major in it, infact i formatted my hdd, so installed xp, and then installed vista the next day.. its weird, but vista is much faster :hmph: Aero is awesome, flip3d with the live preview.. was watching the aus-eng match while doing homework, so anytime i heard something happen, just saw the replay in flip3d :wtg:
Don Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Re: Windows Vista i know that mate but as VLC media player wasnt working with vista and other media players are struggling with its 3d Aero look, only the K-Lite worked without noproblems for me
Zooter Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Re: Windows Vista Is it true that it looks A LOT like Mac OS?? I wouldn't be surprised--Microsoft never invents, just copies badly, ... but spreads like a virus.

varun Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Re: Windows Vista Yes it's a shameless Linux plug in a Vista thread, but since we're talking about *Bling* and *eye candy*, check these videos out : :music1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6kd42jIaHk
