achilles Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 With all this fuss about Yusuf Pathan, I fail to understand the reason why Murali Vijay is escaping everyone's attention. Why isn't Murali Vijay getting any stick? His only creditable performance in BOTH the shorter formats of the game has been a 48 off 46 balls against Afghanistan. With a highest score of an astronomical 25, we better keep him to the longest format of the game, and with Yusuf to the T20s at the moment, who to be fair, has atleast got 2 50s, a better average and a better strike-rate than our Chennai lad.
mastana Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 He can't even score against 2nd string attacks. :wall:
Guest Hiten. Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Um, how hard is it to understand that Murali Vijay is ONLY 4 ODI's old whereas YKP had TONS of chances in both T20 and ODI's.
achilles Posted June 3, 2010 Author Posted June 3, 2010 @ anna... Precisely my point. Lets treat him with the same "respect" we treat Yusuf's failures.

Sure, you aren't trying to fool yourself, are you? Both need to go. I'm sure you are wise enough to concede that.

Yusuf has had a grand total of 25 innings and vijay 4 ! think about it for a while !

Yusuf has had a grand total of 25 innings and vijay 4 ! think about it for a while ! Yeah. Yusuf... what a waste he's turning into. Everyone seems to hate him. How good is that for the guy's confidence ! And he's not doing anything as such to make people eat their words. Murali needs a bit more time in the Domestic circuit, I feel. And if he scores a 50, which is why I made this "jinx" or whatever thread like Dinx, it'll do him and us a world of good.

Oh obviously I'm the one not making sense because I am the one who's calling out for other player's head just because another player who has had ENOUGH chances to prove his worth is not doing well as I expected. Yusuf has been in the team as an all rounder but his bowling is so **** that MSD/Now even raina have hardly used him to fill the slots. I am not saying Vijay is the better one but he ought to be given enough chances before we show him the door.

How hard is it for you to understand that Yusuf Pathan is not a Southie ergo the same rules dont apply.

mastana Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 @ anna... Precisely my point. Lets treat him with the same "respect" we treat Yusuf's failures. But i would like to give him 2 more series to prove himself.
ViruRulez Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 For ODI yes it must be the bye but not for test .. but I still dont like the confidence .. his confidence is worrying and if he remains nervous against even crap oppositions he will not even do great in tests in the long run .. I might prefer an intrepid batsman instead
achilles Posted June 3, 2010 Author Posted June 3, 2010 But i would like to give him 2 more series to prove himself. With Sachin & Viru back, and the middle order already all packed and daggers drawn, when does he get his chance, but for a sparkling 100 in the next game?

And we sure don't need to equate all this to the so-called Chennai bias (which I haven't mentioned anywhere in this thread, except for the first instance, now) thanks to the karma cleansing :eyedance:

As far as Yusuf is concerned my opinion is over the years i believe we have seen enough of him to know he is suspect against fast / short bowling.

You're asking for Vijay's head because other's are asking for YKPs'. You fail to comprehend that your IPL hero literally sucks bawls and cannot bat to save his life. Yusuf not only struggles with genuinely short pitched stuff but also struggles against genuine spin bowlers. Only thing he could slog is a full pitched delivery and unless until the opponents feel generous he's not getting them.

But if i am not wrong Yusuf will remain in the squad for his "all round" abilities.
