The Cricket Tournament between Indian celebrates and Sri Lankan Cricket Stars organized parallel to the IIFA weekend will be played today at the SSC grounds in Colombo. The main objective of this event to raise funds to help rebuild the lives of the children who were affected from the terrorism that prevailed in the country during the last three decades. The event is jointly organized by the UNICEF, Ministry of Tourism and Indian Cinema Academy under the theme of ‘cricket for children’. Three teams comprising former and current Sri Lankan Cricket Stars and Bollywood actors will compete at the tournament where an inning of a match will be limited for ten overs. The Sri Lankan team will be headed by present skipper Kumar Sangakkara while the two teams of Indian Cinema Academy will be skippered by two Indian film stars Hrithik Roshan and Sunil Shetty. Meanwhile, the acting Inspector General of Police N.K. Ilangakoon says a special traffic plan will come into effect from 10 am for the IIFA foundation celebrity cricket match. Therefore, the roads from Maitland Crescent to public administration round-about and Independence road round-about to Maitland Place will remain temporarily closed. Acting IGP further said that Vidya Mawatha from Vijerama junction to Public Administration roundabout will also be temporarily closed. Parking of vehicles along those roads will also not be permitted from 7 am today. Meanwhile, tickets will not be issued at the ground to watch the cricket match today. Police has made arrangements to provide parking facilities for spectators who have already bought tickets. Therefore, vehicles can be parked in the parking slots situated at Malalasekara Mawatha and CR & FC grounds. The Sri Lanka Cricket will provide transport facilities to spectators from those parking slots to reach the SSC grounds. DIG of traffic Lucky Peiris says two additional parking slots have also been established in front of Sri Lanka Foundation Institute and in the Independence road.
