^ Do you bet or gamble big time or play for India/
Bro, i was not asking in that context at all:--D i was reacting to Mike Atherton's article-" gambling obsessed india"- obviously if there is so much betting, and our society is obsessed by cricket gambling, then ordinary people like me should be approached by the betting gangs to participate in these illegal bets on matches, atleast involving india, right? that's my qurestion.i think i should rephrase it : "have you ever been approached by betting syndicates/illegal gamblers on cricket matches?" request Mods to please edit the thread..

The real match fixers aren't the small bookies and punters that are found in every lane in India. Its like the Big Shots who are nearer to the players, board and also have a very strong image so that they could get away even if they do illegal business, are the ones who fix matches via strong bet placements and rigging. And those Big Shots wont come to normal cricket fans as such. They would only contact those who can get their jobs done. Talking about the punters : One that i know of was an owner of a company in which my uncle used to work and there, he always used to have meetings with some Bookies. He used to punt regularly on various Cricket matches, and more often than not, he used to win quite a lot.

What evidence has atherton got of this GAMBLING OBSSESSED INDIA. In UK every one is gambling regularly. Not that case in India. Where did Athers get this from. Sounds like lazy jouranlism by Cheat Atherton pursuing his usual anti India garbage. He just cant accept the new world order of dominant India in world cricket both on and off the pitch

Betting runs underground. No one is going to approach you. Its not insurance business that they will go out for cold calls. Recently I was in hair salon for a hair cut. I saw one guy switch on his mobile The game was between Mumbai India and Rajasthan, the one were yusuf scored 100. Every game they used to open one hour each innings, most likely first 10 overs. and live betting will go on. Tons of ppl will join the conference. I have seen ppl bet but this was quite unusual.

Atherton... typical cry-baby. 1. Cry in the media and get Graeme Swann included in the ICC Awards. 2. Cry in the media and make yourself look like a Saint by criticizing Asia. The list is endless. Sunil Gavaskar is a critic, but he makes sense and talks straight. Atherton unfortunately writes an article with a preset thought in his mind.

i am not surprised that there may be bets for an IPL match involving MI & RR. But , is it plausible for indian boookies to indulge in millions of pounds for a test match involving Pak & England? how true that is?

^why not, its all about money, if there are people willing to bet, why would bookie stop betting. The betting industry is run by Underworld.

One more point on Athers.... the dude forgets that betting is bloody legalized in his "country of the pure which does nothing against the spirit of cricket and is the saviour of the game for Satan BCCI Uncle". Hypocrite calling us names. We all know what happens in your country when it comes to betting, mate.
