Idea: Make educational content available online for free Project funded: The Khan Academy is a non-profit educational organisation that provides high-quality, free education to anyone, anywhere via an online library of more than 1,600 teaching videos. We are providing $2 million to support the creation of more courses and to enable the Khan Academy to translate their core library into the world’s most widely spoken languages. The Khan Academy is a not-for-profit educational organization created and sustained by Salman Khan. Salman Khan was born and raised in New Orleans, Lousiana to immigrant parents from (Father) Barisal, Bangladesh, and (Mother) Calcutta, India. Khan was valedictorian of his high school class and attained a perfect score in the math portion of his SATs. Khan has a B.S. in mathematics, another B.S. in electrical engineering and computer science, and an M.S. in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
