From Ranjitsinghji to Bradman to Sobers across eras there have been extraordinary set of cricketers in between them and after that have revolutionized the game and brought it to what it is today. There is no means to establish who between them would be the absolute best though Bradman by general consensus across the eras is acknowledged the best for obvious reasons. Of course in this generation we have Tendulkar to go along with Lara, Ponting, Kaills who have taken the game to new levels redefining the numbers and they are all great in their own right. To me rather than get into this silly who is better than the other debates and in the process putting down one player after the another it is better to enjoy each of these players that have contributed immensely to their teams and in the process to the game. Remember the game is always bigger than any one single player and it will be the ultimate winner when we have players like Bradman to Sobers to Richards to Lara to Tendulkar grace it.

I have responded to what is relevant. Now you can ask people what you want to be answered but that does not mean they have to answer if they do not find a reason to or if that does not make sense to them which by the way brings me to ask you this. Why is it that it was only Bradman that has managed to average 95 plus in FC cricket when there were about 400 other players that can be considered batsman at the FC level at that time that failed to average even 60? But calling that era as non-professional and beating up on a bunch of amateurs is not convincing enough for me despite all the videos I have seen or arguments presented. 95 average to less than 60 by the next best is too big a gap to bridge. I would have brought into that argument if it were a norm for players back then to average over 85 or 90 but none was able to clock even 60 even at the FC level let alone Test level. Compare that to the Tendulkar era when there are a couple of dozen at least that have averaged in the same range as SRT in Tests.

Very well written.. Admiration and respect for Sachin transcend boundries of countries, cultures and religions. These are things he has achieved through the way he has carried himself on and off the field for more than two decades. Hats off to a true legend..
