Ultimate_Game Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I sure hope ICC rethinks its decision to reduce the world cup to just 10 teams. I hope ICC works on fixing the format and not reducing the number of teams. If world cup soccer can have 32 teams and still finish within a month, surely ICC can learn something from it. i mean it's a world cup we are talking about and not Champions Trophy. Teams like Netherlands and Ireland bring a lot of color and character to the tournament and the tournament will be all the more poor for not having these teams participate in the tourney.
b555 Posted February 23, 2011 Author Posted February 23, 2011 yep, it will look like a more of knock out comeon its called WORLD CUP not just like that !
cricket_usa Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 It would have helped if they had more than one match each day. The WC is too long.
sharma Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 the commercial success of the world cup entirely depends on the success of the indian and to an extent the pakistan team. a fifa style knock out world cup can mean that these 2 teams can be knocked out on day 1 itself. you cant compare the commerce of cricket with that of football cause football has too many good teams that are well supported throughout the world, even in "non-football" countries like india, so if a few good teams get knocked out early, it does not matter - hell i found myself supporting czech republic a few cups ago due to nedved
