Sachin=GOD Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 @CricketGuru ICC have taken notice of your suggestion and have decided to go with just 10 teams in the 2015 World Cup - now you are happy!!
ganeshran Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Minnows should be allowed in the world cup, but they should have their own group with a kind of asymmetric structure. For e.g. 6 minnows could have their own group with 2 qualifiying to the next round. Other groups could be of 4 teams each with three qualification slots. Minnow matches should not be one per day but on a day when some other interesting match is there. This will make the tournament more engaging and shorter.

So atleast a couple of the better ones have a chance of going into super 8s or quarter finals. where they can play against the stronger teams. Some minnows have a characteristic of picking up their game of crunch days, so there could be some upsets.
prasadiyer Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Of the 14 teams in the world cup, just 4 are certifiable minnows. But because of their inclusion, 22 out of the 42 group stage matches, that is to say 52% of them, became unwatchable. What a drag this world cup is. Shame, really.
