Watch this you tube video. Afridi's age when he batted for the first time in interntional cricket (and hit a 37-ball 100) was shown on TV as 21!! Mid way into the innings he was 16 and has remained ever since. Watch from 0.04-0.10 seconds. yFiOyyKnWvU

Not in the senior squad, but they have an advantage in picking squads for U-19 tournaments. In India also this practise is very prevalent (not in the cricket field though). In the older generations ages were routinely fudged to improve chances of school admissions, prolong retirement age etc. Now with Hospitals themselves giving birth certificates and government jobs going down, people dont do it that much anymore. But is there any foolproof way of determining a person's age?
Not true !!! Yuvraj is atleast 4 year older than his current age !!! One of my friends use to play for Maharashtra Ranji team. He used to talk about people forging ages. A lot of players in India (different sports) do that. I remember when we used to go to Nationals to play basketball (U 18, U21) etc. There used to be atleast 10 to 11 players who used to get dismissed from the tournament. Forging age is very much rampant in the age group catagory. I dont know how it helps for senior squad. Also, the tests are not 100 % correct and they can hardly determine the age.

Agree, in India also wherever it gets you advantage, people go forging documents. All you can hope is not many people do that or at some levels people get caught/filtered. Also, people only who do not believe in their abilities go for short-cuts - and given the level of competition most of them get filtered out based on performance.

What a load of rubbish!! Yuvi's parents weren't even married before 1980!!

Forging ages is common in india as well.. Mostly people do it to get the kid in school 6 months before time instead of making a kid waste 6 months.. There is nothing preventing a forged BC with a latter birth date... I dont thinik in india anyone is clean.. One thing is for sure Tendulkar never hid his age when Tendulkar was 16 he was looking like a kid for his age, but metally he was far ahead.. Others there are no gaurentees.

Thats what they told. They were probably 23 or 24 at that time.
