Folks, world cup is over but who would have thought that the most interesting stuff would happen once the cup got over. It's not the IPL I am referring to, it's the great Pakistani captain and legend Shahid "The Beast" Afridi we are talking about who has taken the onus of entertaining the cricketing world on his own shoulders by coming up with one startling & hare-brained comment after another. Before one can recover from one interview or one statement from the great man, the amazing chap comes up with an even more hilarious statement/interview. In fact some of his comments/interviews/statements have been so bizarre like his "Paki large hearted" comment and has flip-flopped to such an extent ("I was misquoted") that occasionally I thought the interview was a Page 2 special and couldn't possibly be a real interview that any sane person can give. But I was clearly underestimating the great Pathan. Credit where credit is due and I simply bow to the great man :hatsoff: And thus I would like to kick off this prediction thread... predict what the great man might be thinking about and giving an interview on. I'm willing to give all the ICF money, which I agree is not substantial, to this noble cause and I'm sure couple of volunteers will step in to loan some of their ICF $ for this wonderful competition. For the uninitiated so far Afridi has covered the following in his ramblings in no particular order... "large hearts of Paki ppl", thrown Indian media under the bus, retracted his statements after doing a 180 degree turn, claimed he was "misquoted", expressed interest in playing IPL, lambasted Sohail by calling him "ghatiya aadmi", wanted permission from PCB to opt out of WI tour, and looked forward to the WI tour less than 24 hrs after wanting to opt out of the tour. All this in less than a week after getting knocked out of the world cup!!! Some serious introspection right there I say! Let the predictions begin and may the best man win :smiley: P.S. - Afridi, or anyone from his family, is ineligible to participate in the competition.

I won't return to Test cricket, says Afridi

KARACHI: Pakistan's ODI captain Shahid Afridi has ruled out returning to play Test cricket despite being urged to lead the side in all three formats of the game by former skipper Imran Khan. Afridi decided to retire from Test cricket last year although he was named captain for the entire Test and one-day series against Australia and England. He retired from Tests after Pakistan lost to Australia under his captaincy and since then the flamboyant all-rounder has focused on playing just one-dayers and Twenty20 cricket. "I don't think I am the sort of player who is ideal for Test cricket. So I have no plans to make a comeback to Test matches," Afridi told reporters at a function hosted for the World Cup team. Afridi insisted that he enjoyed playing limited overs cricket and wanted to focus on these two formats and do justice to his captaincy. "I am thankful to those former players who believe that I should also lead the team in Test matches but I don't think I am cut out for the five-day format," he said. Imran has said that Afridi can return to Test matches primarily as a bowler. Afridi, however, said that he was keen to make up for his relative lack of success in batting.

Daughter's taunt makes Afridi desperate to improve batting

Karachi: "I will focus on improving my batting during the tour. It has become really weak," Afridi told reporters here on Friday of the ODI series against the West Indies later this month. "Even my daughter has started calling me 'Baba Boom Boom Out' because of my poor batting performance," he smiled. Afridi finished the 2011 World Cup as the joint highest wicket-taker but flopped miserably with the bat. "It is not an easy tour and we will have to give our best to achieve best results," he said. Afridi was recently advised by former Pakistan captain Imran Khan to come out of Test retirement and also lead the country in the longer form of the game. However, Afridi said that he has no plans to return to Test cricket. "I don't have any plans to make a Tests' return," he said. "I think I am not the best choice for that format." Afridi said Pakistan has the potential to become the world's best team. "My team has improved a lot recently and our performance in the World Cup under pressure was commendable. I can say if we continue the same progress, we can become like the Aussies who were considered as invincible few years back." Afridi expressed disappointment over the comments of senior all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, who after being dropped for the tour of West Indies complained he was given few chances in the World Cup. "It is not true. The team management gave equal chances to all the players," said Afridi.

The way Afridi is going right now, he is not test material. You can't be slogging like a tailender in Test cricket. Test cricket takes patience, temperament, and deep batting skills. Afridi should go back to domestic cricket to sharpen these skills and come back in few years.

Amazing the guy actually thinks this Paki team can become Aussie team of early 2000s! This is what I call delusion at its best - the team has no decent batsmen, no half-decent openers, no decent keeper either, their fielding is akin to an u13 girls team and we all know what happened to their best pacer (Gul) and Afridi still THINKS this team would match the Aussies!!! :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: I am sure he also thinks Akmal brothers would be the new Bradman and Sobers of cricket :cantstop:
