akshayxyz
How come there are 'only' 70 league matches. With 10 teams, and no groups, and each team playing every other team twice - there should be 90 matches. What am I missing? http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-premier-league-2011/content/series/466304.html?template=iplfixtures Btw - I like the concept of Qualifier 1, 2 and Eliminator to decide the finalist. akshayxyz
But it still not clear how they decided which teams to play twice and which to play once.

IKnowU
I would have prefered two divisions. Top 3 from each division go through to finals, then Super 6 to decide semi's and the Final.
akshayxyz
Yea - looks like they made two virtual groups of 5 teams each. One has to play 2 matches against teams in the same group and one team from the other group. And 1 match with 4 teams from the other group. What fked up logic. !! Why couldn't they just keep two groups and leave at double round robin within the groups. What is the point of groups!! The nighmare would have been over within 43/44 matches. yoda
Don't think teams would have agreed to play NO games against the crowd pullers MI (Sachin) or CSK (Dhoni), hence this compromise. It is kind of similar to the format in the NBA (play more games vs your conference).
