Yantra Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Out Selectors needs to Identify bowlers who are good for Test, ODI or those who are good for both format, we must realize that out talent pool for fast bowlers is very swallow, My category would be like, Ishant = Can be used in both formats, has ability to take wickets and can be used as stock bowler to keep one end tight,(needs to be consistent was bowling fast and accurate in IPL but in WI just does not look hungry enough) Sudeep Tyagi = Can be used in both format has decent pace and bounce and enough wicket taking ability, Umesh Yadav = Can be used as stock bowler in test format only, has pace but no ability to take wickets (can be develop with proper coching) Varun Aaron = Can be used in both formats has enough pace and wicket taking ability, RP and Sreesanth = Both must strictly be used for Test only, has decent pace and swing, but not accurate enough for ODIs Munaf = can be used in both formats provided he is fit and hungry and going at full energy, Jaydev Unadtkat, Deepak Chahar and Mithun = not ready for international class, Jaydev has promise to became good bowler in future so does Deepak, If Miithun want to play internationals has improve his speed can be used as stock bowler, has very limited ability to take wickets, Vinay Kumar = just not a international class bowler, lacks everything, full stop. Ashok Dinda = Not international class, Praveen Kumar = Can be used in both formats specially in countries like England, Newzealand and south africa he should not be selected for test on any other conditions, Dhawal Kulkarni = can be used in both format, he is similar to Munaf, can be usefull in conditions like Australia, South africa, Pankaj Singh = Has improved quite a bit, has became more accurate and has more wicket taking deliveries now, can be given chance test first and then ODIs, Balaji and I Pathan = Still not ready for international class, Pathan should only be used for Test if selected in ODIs should be considered allrounder not just bowler, he should work more on his bowling and stop giving interviews, Please accept the fact that our country does not produce enough world class bowlers, we must choose our bowlers wisely, to produce better result. at this moment we have only one world class bowler and that is Zaheer, even in the past we did not had many world class bowlers, but we had produce some effective results when selection was done wisely, for example 83 World cup, or 85 WSC in AUS, This is my list, please include any if I have left out, waiting for your inputs......

Yantra Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 Its about selecting right person for right place and condition that suits them, we don't have some body like Dale Stein who is all seasons, everywhere type of bowler, selectors has seen these bowlers past couple of years, they must identify their strenth, and work according to it.
Fontaine Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 There's always hope that one of these clowns will grow up and learn the art of bowling correctly. If Munaf can improve his game tremendously then there's no reason why experienced and talented bowlers like RP/Pathan/Sree/Ishant can't.

Those two should not play shorter formats and instead be played only in tests. Let them be successful in tests before playing them in shorter formats. As for RP Singh, well he needs someone to tell him that this could be a golden chance for him but if only he could get fit again. He still has the skills but does he have the desire/discipline needed to do the hard work on his fitness? Tyagi, Aaron, Yadav all need to get fit especially Tyagi and Aaron. They play 2 first class matches and miss the next two due to injury. At a young age, that reflects poorly on their fitness regime.
Yantra Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 We have many bowlers that can be grouped because they are kind of similar to each other, Ishant = Sudip Tyagi = Pankaj Singh Sreesanth = RP Munaf = Dhawal Kulkarni (don't get me wrong here, Dhawal is a good line lenth bowler can be use full in Aus, South Africa) Praveen Kumar = I Pathan = Deepak Chahar Umesh Yadav = Varun Aaron These bowlers can be used alternatively if the one is not performing or looks out of fitness.

Yantra Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 I do not have luxury of following younger talents in India, Do you guys see any new entries in fast bowling department? it just that I get exited when new talent propup, only to fade away, but it will give us momentary excitement, On a more serious or you can say joking note, I can say honestly say couple of bowlers in my college days were much faster and accurate then Vinay Kumar, and they were not pro bowlers, I just wonder how he could get selected repeatedly so many times, it was just so embarrassing to see him bowl, people in the Caribbean must be thinking that they all could bowl better then him.

jairamesh Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Just provide fair tracks which offer healthy bounce and pace, and all will be sorted. Simple! All these players bowl on flat pancakes day in...day out, hence cut back on pace and strain to preserve longevity. What's the point of Ishant straining to deliver a 90mph ball, when after bouncing on these flat tracks the pace drops and bounce is killed, hence allowing batsman plenty of time to play. This also screws them up on tracks with bounce and pace, as they have to re-adjust length to compensate for extra pace and bounce and usually end up screwing up and struggle.
