Why did he say he was fit then? Honestly if he has to play for India till 37-38 he should treat this injury fully we can't afford to have him only for half of the year, every year this time he is out with injury cuz of the busy IPL. Even if he has to skip the England series I'd prefer it, he shouldn't hurry and carry the injury forward.

Sehwag's situation has nothing to do with the IPL. He was carrying this injury for a long long time because he hasn't been able to bowl since way back to last year. It's all to do with the incompetent physio's/Doctors that didn't strongly advise him to get surgery when he had the injury and fix it. Sehwag ended up getting a 2nd opinion from a Doctor in England and only recently got the surgery much much later than what could have been. Same with Pujara. He was injured at the start of the IPL and only got the surgery now, and for a freakin' ligament tear in his knee for which almost always surgery is required when he consulted with a 2nd doctor. Why wasn't it done sooner? Both of these guys could have easily gotten surgery, especially Sehwag, months ago and would have been fit for the Windies tour, played there and been completely ready to take on England. I don't know who these jokers are that didn't advise the surgery earlier, but I'm willing to bet they are the same idiots (maybe in the NCA) that passed Sreesanth fit for inclusion in the squad when he looks like he has a pot belly.

^^ This was a surgery he has avoided for 2 years and it has finally caught up with him.

Well then he doesn't deserve to play in the first two tests for being stupid enough to keep postponing it and the team/doctors etc deserve to blood a complete noobie like Mukund because they allowed it to happen. No wonder he's come out with dumb, cavalier statements like he'll be fit for the first test, blah blah. Show's how seriously some of our players look at injuries etc. Sooner or later you pay the cost.

Part me is hoping this is mind games from the Indian camp and Viru miraculously turns up in the morning and is in the team sheet. Imagine the look on Anderson and co faces :giggle:

Its the case with most Indian players, probably because of uncertainty of their place in team or what I don't get why they keep carrying on playing with injuries instead of treating them once and for all. I hope at least BCCI keeps track of his injury and rule him out of whole series if they have to, so that it doesn't affect him in future series.
