Well, that's what you get for having the richest cricket board in the world, the richest players who enjoy demi-God status in a nation that also has the largest number of cricket fanatics and viewers worldwide, and for being World champions. It's always been about favouring the underdogs, criticising the 'big bullies' who trump the rankings, and fighting the 'evil conglomerate' in sport... in this case, it's the BCCI. Even Oz was much hated when it was #1 in cricket, so it's a cycle that will continue regardless of any nation which becomes #1. IF England becomes #1 and stays up there for a while (which I doubt), it won't be very long before people the world over will be baying for their blood. Envy is the obvious outcome of success. There's a lot of bitterness, mostly in the 'Western' cricket playing nations, about the focus on cricket now shifting to South Asia. Something of that nature happened in football too, when Latin America suddenly became the powerhouse of international football even though premier league footy is still flourishing in Europe, particularly England. It's ironic these commentators (particularly the English ones) are rambling on about BCCI's financial clout, when the same sh*t is happening in English football. There's a subtle undercurrent of neo-imperialism when it comes to their attitude towards Indian cricket and its impact, and it stinks, but they were always soreass losers, so that's something Team India will always have to deal with. It was supposedly all OK when they shoved their might down our throats, but they're choking and gagging when it's the other way round  Let's just use this claptrap to humour ourselves and allow them to bark all they want. It's just been one Test, and they're already gloating. It'll be all the more fun to watch them swallow their bile as the series progresses.
More rubbish. What we English hate is corruption which is rife in football now. As far as the cricket goes the BCCI uses its influence to bully the rest of the world. And as far as England goes you forget one very important thing, we invented both games and are intimately involved with a passion in how they evolve and are played. If the Japenese took over the reins of Baseball do you think the Americans would say oh, we no longer have opinions on a game we invented. Get real:hmmm:

You may have invented the games but other teams mastered it.

Ya.I have also seen this attitude. When i hear about Ashes. All I hear about is Ashes 2005 and Ashes 2009. But the Poms forgot about Ashes 2007 where they were mauled by your team.5-0 I can say only one thing to the pommies. Enjoy it while you can... Cause it is not going to last long.
We have not forgotten 2007 we turned up in Aus how you lot have turned up in England this time

Then he said Sreesanth is a terrific bowler.Absolutely crap like this English team.We lost to England more due to our complacency and we underestimated England.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? This sentence clearly compares India to the English side that turned up in Aus unprepared in 2007 and got stuffed 5-0 'We have not forgotten 2007 we turned up in Aus how you lot have turned up in England this time'

Legendary all-rounder Ian Botham considers the current English team as "cricket kings of the world" and says he can foresee England displacing India from the number one spot during the four-Test series and ushering in a new era of dominance. "There is little doubt that the current English team are now cricket kings of the world," wrote Ian Botham, in his column in 'Daily Mirror'. "What we saw at Lord's was the sort of performance you would expect from the best team on the planet and there will be more to come before this series is over. "At some point, England will take the No.1 title from India officially and then an era of dominance should follow, because we are well ahead of the pack. Every department is covered and without a weak link," he added. England beat India by 196 runs in the opening Test of the four-match series, putting up a clinical performance against their depleted opponents, who were a bowler short after Zaheer Khan's hamstring injury. And Botham feels that India are hoping against hope to beat the strong English side in their home conditions with a depleted unit. "How can India hope to beat us, especially with their injury worries?," asked the 55-year-old. "And as good as some of India's players have been over many years, I don't see how they can get back into this series against a side as confident as England. And they will get better, because there is a hunger in the dressing room to search for that bit extra." The second Test of the series is to be played at Trent Bridge from Friday and the legendary all-rounder warns India of some fierce bowling from the hosts. "England will have two bowlers on home turf, while a third - Jimmy Anderson - never leaves without a five-fer in his back pocket. And judging by the way he is bowling at the moment, India should be happy if all he takes is five wickets," Botham said. "The great thing about this England team is that they are all peaking together and dovetail like the best teams do." Botham also praised Kevin Pietersen for his unbeaten 202 innings at Lord's. "In terms of the way it started when things weren't easy and then ensuring he was still there and able to cash in after he had made his first hundred. That is what Test match batting should be about," the former cricketer said. "Matt Prior performed magnificently again. We know his batting ability is as good as any Test middle order batsman, but his glovework was in the top bracket too." Botham also confessed that Stuart Board had silenced his critics with seven wickets from two innings in the first Test but said he stood by his words. "On an unhelpful wicket the bowlers hunted as a pack and I have to doff my cap to Stuart Broad, who took all the criticism that came his way then hit back in the best possible way with wickets. "I was one of those calling for him to be dropped before the game and I stand by those words because the Broad we saw at Lord's was not the one we had been watching earlier. "I hope he pushes on from here and doesn't let it be his only performance of the series. He also showed maturity in the way he handled his lbw knock-backs, although it is ridiculous that the DRS is not being used," he said. Criticising Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) for not using the full Decision Review System in the series, Botham said, "It is time India accepted it and realise that the game is not here just for them. Everybody wants the full DRS."[/QUOTE] Good old Beefy, Like Boycott he says it as it is.

Jeez, you again  Well, just because England invented both games, doesn't give THEM the leverage to assert some kind of underhanded fiefdom in sport and go crying to mommy just because another nation enjoys a greater degree of influence on the sport. That's as retarded as saying India must hold the reins over chess and all things pertaining to it just because it was invented in India. What a dumba** post- are you asserting that India has no passion for cricket and is not equally keen to witness a surge in cricket? If anything, cricket enjoyed a huge revival of sorts when the BCCI as it is today came into the picture. People like you love to froth at the mouth about BCCI's clout in cricket, but they conveniently forget that England was guilty of the same thing when India toured the country in 1974, a year after your team back then was whitewashed by our spinners, and the ECB helped change the rules in 1974 to give their players the upper hand. A new rule was introduced to limit the number of fielders on the onside to negate the advantage Indian spinners would have had against the English batsmen, who plain sucked against spin. So really, don't give me that yarn about BCCI's corruption and pretend the ECB is virginal when it comes to twisting the rules to favour the home team. You sow what you reap, and you people can't digest the fact that the epicentre of cricket is pretty much moving outside England now. And in any case, English club football is rife with corruption and power-hungry jackals at the top, but that doesn't mean the country has no love for the game. Anyone worth his salt knows India and pretty much the sub-continent has the most passionate cricket fans the world over. Oh, and it's 'Japanese', btw. Just letting you know before the Queen pulls you up for being such a lousy enforcer of the language. Get real, Jeeves.

We will win.
So we will put you into bat in favorable conditions and you will do better than lords? I think not. Lucky for you the weather situation is looking good. I think this will either be a draw or an England win

Yep me again. Told you I would be around for this series. English people hate any corruption at home or abroad. Also we dont expect to wield supreme power over the game, but we do want to see it being run fairly and the BCCI exerts too much influence over the ICC There is no epicentre, there are only so many cricket playing nations. Unless you want to spend all your time playing on Sub continent featherbeds against the Sri's and Pakis i suggest you moderate the BCCI and get them to accept the decisions of the rest of cricket playing nations Yep it is Japanese my mistake, but my point was still entirely valid and I note you had no answer to it

So?
Also we dont expect to wield supreme power over the game' date=' but [b']we do want to see it being run fairly and the BCCI exerts too much influence over the ICC
:cantstop: Oh really? England didn't seem to know what constituted 'fairness' back in 1974. The degree of hypocrisy here is astounding. So apparently it was alright for the ECB to exert enough influence over the ICC in the decades gone by, but God forbid if the BCCI did the same. No one is 'for' corruption here- but then again, no one likes double standards either.
There is no epicentre' date= there are only so many cricket playing nations. Firstly, that's pretty rich coming from you considering England has had a pi** poor record of winning Tests in India for quite a while. As for our away record- that figure currently stands at 17 as against the 16 we've won on home turf. You'd do well to do your homework before typing crapola. And moderate the BCCI? You weren't breaking a sweat 'moderating' the ECB back in the 70s were you? Do unto others as you'd have others do unto you. Kthnxbai.
Lol, suit yourself then. The bulk of sponsorship/ misc. deals in cricket originate in India, and it's got the largest number of cricket viewers as well. It's pretty much the financial hub of cricket- I thought you knew that? How do you think BCCI became the richest cricket board?

You make my points for me.:hysterical: Firstly 1974, please it is ancient history and then we were still the main arbiters of the game we ourselves had invented. Next: The bulk of sponsorship should not allow one nation or side to influence the game as a whole unfairly in favour of that side which is what the BCCI are trying to do. If such an organisation trys to bully the rest of the playing sides, we should refuse to play them and then see how they like playing with themselves literally:haha: Next: in the 70's we were still the arbiters of the game, but of course we gave up that right to the ICC. You however want to steal that position by the weight of cash/sponsorship. It wont happen as SA, NZ, AUS and the English wont let it happen and if you start getting to big for your boots we will tell you to just play amongst yourselves. That would be a real shame as I think India are a great great cricket nation, but should not be allowed to dictate to the rest in what is now a modern era
