I believe we need pathan in the team. He has spent enough time outside the team, he is more matured than before. Has done reasonably well in IPL, so the longer format should suit him, with the pace he bowls, he would be faster than praveen, and can move the ball, both ways, plus he can bat too. I do not know what is keeping him completely ignored by the selectors ?

he hasnt played test cricket since march 2007, more than 4 years ago! big gamble to bring him back for this series! stick with RP and even if he was picked his heroics (if suceeded) couldnt win us the test

As if the others are working for us, we gotta give him another chance for sure.

He was in the T20 World Cup team which won, he was in Perth's team which beat Australia in Australia. He has proved himself on many occasions , selectors need to give him the belief, as they do for rohit sharma, raina and others who have struggled initially. Though Irfan has not struggled initially but in the later half of the career.

I agree that he should be called back at some point to see how his test cricket it is, but in all honesty this test series is gone regardless of who we bring, the only man who could make a difference is zaheer! though I think his inclusion into the ODI series would be good mind you!

The fact that you think circus league performances is a guide to tests shows how much you know what you're talking about. And no, he is useless in tests. He has had odd moments like Perth, hat-trick in the first over etc but most of his success has come against Bang and Zim. Look at his stats without those games. The Zim team wasn't the one with Flower and co either but a school boy team in 2005.

Well the same circus cricket was used to dominate world cricket 1) Shane Watson 2) Dilshan Are prime examples of this, and they have only improved in the longer formats, be in ODI's or Tests. We need an all rounder in the team, and there is nobody who can match his skills in the whole country, if there were, i would try him out, but there is none.

:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: And no, we don't need an allrounder (though it would be nice to have one) but bowlers who can pick up wickets. Pathan is not the answer.

Who else has had these moments, like he has ??? We have been carrying people who have had moments, Harbhajan singh is a prime example, right from when he owned australia we have him in the team, because he had those MOMENTS, then why the bias, why not give chance to Irfan pathan. And on what grounds you declare him useless in Tests, ???? Even though he has all the skills required !!

Crazy people like yourself are the reason we ignore Talent, He is a Real Talent, who has to be given opportunities, and YES We need an all rounder. England today have 3 in their team, what makes you think only bowlers will work fine, for a Top Team. West Indies had it. Australia Had it South Africa had it And now England has it. We definitely need an all rounder.

And keep the pathetic laugh to yourself, you do not have to show many cartoons to show you are one.

To compare him to Harbhajan is ridiculous. Harby has been useless for a while but he has bowled India to many wins. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/32685.html?class=1;filter=advanced;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposition=4;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=default;template=results;type=bowling

And that holds same for Irfan, he has had enough contributions to teams victories, be it ODI's Tests or T20. So why the f u ck leave him out, and now at least for no reason. The left him out to improve his game, fitness, he has shown in IPL , he is fit enough, he doesn't have to take hat ricks in every match he plays to show he has improved, thats already known to everyone. He had to be seen for match fitness, and into the Team.

T20s mean jack sh!t and ODIs are not relevant either. What are his great bowling performances in tests?

Taken a hattrick in Tests in Pakistan Has a Century in Tests against Pakistan Was leading the wickets tally in the Perth Victory. Has done reasonably well in Tests. There are numerous other examples which i can pull for you if you would like. Off late he was not bowling well, but that **** happens with everyone, give me a player who has not gone through a rough phase, but you can't ignore a guy with the skills Irfan Has.
