pinkfreud Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 I know there are a few 'oldies'/music threads doing the rounds here already, but I'm kicking off this one in the hopes of it becoming a lively, dynamic, and free for all thread rather than a 'my milkshake list is better than yours' oriented discussion. I'm 23, but I've grown up listening to 50s gems thanks to my mom, who knows every song of the 50s-60s era like the back of her hand. Listening to the golden oldies reminds me of the great times I had in my childhood, when my grandparents would fondly listen to Aakashvani and play those ancient HMV records during those long, lazy, sweltering afternoons. There's a certain purity and warmth in old songs that's sadly missing in today's tunes. It doesn't matter if your favourite singer is Rafi, Kishore, Geeta Dutt, or Asha Bhosle, if your fave composer is Shankar Jaikishan or Bappi Da, or if your fave decade is the 40s or the 80s- just post your picks or lists of your fondest golden oldies.
