saneindian Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 1974 tour, India lost, Wadekar lost his captaincy to Nawab Pataudi Jr. 1979 tour, India lost, Venkatraghavan lost his captaincy to Gavaskar. 1996 tour, India lost, Azhar lost his captaincy to Sachin. Ganguly's decline as a captain started with a ODI tour of England in 2004 when we lost 2-1 to Eng and were knocked out early in the Champions Trophy. Dravid resigned from captaincy despite a successful England tour in 2007. And now MSD has led the team to possibly the worst Indian tour in the modern era, not to forget the loss in the 2009 World t20 when went in as favorites and got thrashed (even though t20 doesn't count for much).
