Lurker Posted December 14, 2011 Share Posted December 14, 2011 Lurker Bhai,I completely agree with you when you say a lot of Pak immigrants have uphedl their values but I disagree when you say that it is not the same for Hindu families. It was not meant to be a knock on Hindus. One can look at it both ways. Hindus, generally speaking, are lot less tied to traditions. Going to temple, for example, is completely upto you. Nobody can force you to go every Friday, or Sunday. Same with celebrating a festival, say Ramzan. So Hinduism allows you to be well you..and follow a religion only if you want to. No compulsion. Something I greatly appreciate. At the same time one can also argue that too many folks simply let go of their traditions because there is no holding them back. Who knows which is the right version??? I mean I am sure many on the other side of the fence (specially women) would look at it with envy as well and wonder what would it be like to lead your life as you like it..even if it means questioning their imaan.
