Michael Chopra signs on for Sunderland

Sunderland, July 13 Michael Chopra signed on for Sunderland today in a four-year deal worth up to £5 million. The striker moved from League Championship side Cardiff, where he was the second top scorer with 22 goals in 42 games. He joins Greg Halford and Russell Anderson as new recruits at Sunderland, which is managed by former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane. “He’s a natural goal-scorer who will bring competition with our other quality strikers to the side,” Keane said. — AP --------------------------------------------------------------------- Its about time we have some desis playing soccer (maybe he's mixed?)

I have no clue. I know he was on Newcastle's books once. He hardly ever turned out for them though, so i don't think the supporters on Tyneside will care about this defection of his. Isn't there another "desi" playing in England - Harpal Singh ? ex-Leeds ? How is he doing ? On a related note, Sunderland look pretty good under Keane
