I just discovered this video while watching the entry of Sachin at MCG. This is a video where Don talks about how he felt Buddha batted like him. Maybe it is the videos of the day...they run a little faster than the real time videos we have today, but I am not very sure of the similarity. But you gotta admit that Bradman was possibly the first Test batsman with a technique that placed premium on balance. I haven't seen Hammond's or Headley's videos much but I reckon they would have been equally well balanced in their techniques. I say this because both of them were kinda miles ahead of Bradman on wet wickets which required good technique. Maybe I am reading too much between the lines but Benaud does not emphatically say that Bradman was the greatest...possibly because he never saw him play. Yeah! But my intention was not to show one as better than the other...just to present some footage of the two given that one of them claims the other batted like him. And I didn't want it to be like a comparison of their greatness or anything like that which typically ends up in vitriol from both sides hence did not wanna include it in any of the existing threads. I think their styles weren't exactly similar...at least the footage shows they are different.

You are stupid.. and its proved now... i have always said that sachin is india's best... its just that i like dravid better and yes in the 3rd or 4th innings laxman is better than sachin (my opinion) i dont have a problem if anyone else has a different opinion like you people... don't know why you think you are the biggest cricket expert...and yes i still maintain for you to be sure... sachin > bradman had they both played in the same era, since they havent i have never compare between them...

Its difficult not to when moderators come up with troll comments about some comparision discussion that had taken place few months back into this thread and comments on my age and stuff... such big trolls around here... i wont be surprised if i am banned soon... huh

Wouldn't you say that about any other ATG...even non ATG's too. I am sure Ravi Shastri knew his cricket better than anyone else and knew how limited he was better than anyone else and made the most of what he could. Similarly Paul Collingwood knew himself better than anyone else knew him. The point of this thread is to test the theory that both fellas had similar styles. From the footage it hardly looks like so. Forget about what Bradman felt or what his wife felt. Just look at the footage available and can you actually spot any similarities in their batting styles? From the footage I have seen of players of yore (before 1930s) Bradman is way above the others when it comes to being balanced at the crease and while playing his shots. The greats like Hobbs, without mincing words, look pathetically out of balance. It is possible Bradman and his contemporaries Headley and Hammond were the first ones to make batsmanship about balance a lot more than their previous generations. But to be honest since Bradman we have seen so many batsmen who have had amazing balance...Sobers, Gavaskar, Chappell, Richards, the 3 Ws just to name a few. If anything the that skill of balance as a prerequisite for great batsmanship has only gained in importance and successive generations have become better at it. I am not sure on what grounds Bradman or his wife felt Sachin batted like he did. Do you notice any similarities?

There is nothing wrong in people having an opinion that they prefer Dravid and Laxman over Tendulkar. They can easily back their claims based on the deeds of RD and VVS. These two are that good.
